£obty- Jline is-{jolclen ( )nes Dennis Teeguarden, Vice-President; Barbara Allen, Secretary; John Newton, President; Robert Palmer, Treasurer. When the industrious Class of ’49 started its freshman year, we elected Teddy Ballard, President; Charles Hess, Vice President; Barbara Allen, Secretary; and John Newton, Treasurer. The ’49ers wowed the student body of Willy Wirt when they gave the first event of the year, the Halloween Dance, which has set a precedent that is pretty hard to beat. In that same year we gave the St. Patrick’s Day dance. Our sponsors were Mrs. White, Miss Finn, Mr. Paloncy, and Mr. Fowble. Our social life during the course of our sophomore and junior years was handled somewhat differently. We had no class officers and merely sponsored different dances, two of which were the Valentine Dance and the Pan-American Fiesta. During the latter, we staged a mock bull fight in which Donn Krebes and Bill Stern (this reads in order of their appearance) took the part of the bull. During our junior year we gave two dances. They were the May Dance and the main dance of the year, the Junior Stork Club. There was also a Prom, but that was given by the seniors of ’48. At the Junior Stork Club we had a stage show and, if you will pardon the expression, a Dance Band, Gene Goforth and his boys. The money making projects during the year were forcing students to buy our t-shirts, beanies, sweat shirts, and pencils. As the Class of ’49 embarked on its senior year, we elected John Newton, President; Dennis Teeguarden, Vice President; Barbara Allen, Secretary; and Bob Palmer, Treasurer. Given in our honor was the King and Queen Dance followed closely by the Senior Banquet at Vogel’s with Bill Stern as toastmaster. The Prom, which was held at Marquette Park, proved to be the biggest event of the year, with music being provided by Ken Nowlan. The junior class expressed their delight of having the seniors depart, by giving the Senior Farewell. They say that every dog has his day and the seniors are no exception. Their day was proclaimed Senior Day, but the seniors knew that every day was their “day”. Following this momentous day was Baccalaureate, giving us a memorable message. Then came the day that all students look forward to, Commencement, the final reward of twelve years of reading, writing, and arithmetic. 1'age Ten
