Everyone helped! It was really wonderful. Former principal, Mr. Tudisco, and former assistant principal, Mr. Taylor, attended the event. INTERNATIONAL PEACE DAY: 81 UCO — JUNIOR MESA — PARTNERSHIP The University and College Opportunities Program works in conjunction with the Mathematics — Engineer- ing — Science Achievement program at Willard. Students work after school in study groups to complete math and science related projects. This year, students elected officers and conducted their own weekly meet- ings. Some 8th graders in this group are also members of PARTNERSHIP, which is based at the University. Students attend Saturday workshops at Cal and meet once a week at the school site with a PARTNERSHIP counselor. UCO — JR. MESA OFFICERS 1986-87 President — Valorie Hutson Vice-President — April Gandy Secretary — Stacey Graggs Treasurer — Estrella Dawson Advisor — Ms. Braxton Tutor — Mr. Haskell MO HE WORK CHANGE 82 Dear Willard Students, I felt pleased and honored when Ms. Davis asked me to write for The Target . . . our Willard yearbook. I am well aware that as time passes, you will often look back to The Target to view pictures, recognize signatures, and recall memories that helped to shape and form who you will evolve to be. A very special thanks to Ms. Marylin Davis for her time, energy and commitment to The Target. For without her, Willard students, let ' s face it — memories of what might have been would merely be what could or should have been! Becoming a principal in new territory has taught me a lot about how important it is to bridge the old and new. As you move to Berkeley High School, remember that with a strong foundation of skills, a sound connection of thinking and reasoning, far reaching ideas and thought will occur. I, without question, believe that the Willard Staff is in- deed the finest junior high school staff around. They, collectively, have worked diligently to serve and provide you with an educational program based on a school phil- osophy that stands apart from most. I hope that you will often look back and say, I remember . . . he she taught me . . . However, big or small, we (the Willard Staff) worked hard to contribute to your life. 83 MORE WONDERFUL WILLARD PEOPLE!
