A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY AND TRIVIA Dear Staff and Students, 1981-82 marks the second year of the reopening of Willard. Junior High School is a very special period in our education. It is the time when we should begin to set our sights on our life ' s goals and objectives — a time when we should begin to aim for our target. It is not unusual then, that the name of our yearbook is the TARGET. As we began to research the origin of the name of the yearbook, we found a poem in an early 1900 TARGET by Miss Alice Lorraine Andrews. Miss Andrews was a member of the graduating class of 1907. At that time, Willard was called McKenley School and was located on Dwight Way. Miss Andrews is still a resident of Berkeley. Shortly before her 93rd birthday on March 20th, 1982, several members of the TARGET staff went to visit her. It is with great pleasure that we dedicate the 1982 TARGET to the woman who gave the book its name. Hoping for a perfect TARGET, without error, The Yearbook Staff Bridgid Coulter, editor Joad Skjelbred, major artist Megan O ' Keefe, cover design Rohana Kenin Jeff Lipton Katherine Falk, inside cover design Shokai Taylor Jamai Deuberry David Park Ms. Davis-Glover, advisor 2
