One oe my college teachers defined education simply as change . We are all subject to change. We grow, we develop, we age, we learn, we forget, we move, we join organizations, we drop out 0 f them, and change in many other ways. Mildred McAfee once defined an ed- ucated person as one Who voluntarily does more thinking than is necessary for his own survival. Ellen Glasgow illustrated change in this manner: No idea is so antiquated that it was not once modern. no idea is so modern that it will not someday be an- tiquated... to seize the flying thought before it escapes us is our only touch with reality. christopher morley comments on change in these words: it will be a shock to men when they realize that thoughts that were fast enough for today are not fast enough for tomorrow. but th!nk!ng tomorrow ' s thoughts today is one kind of tuture life. Our school has changed. This year we have enjoyed our new Swim Center and our renovated auditorium and gyms. This fall we expect to be in our new cafetorium, classrooms, library, and of- FICES. !n the Fall of 1 966 we wi ll be a dlfferent school, with grades seven and eight only. It is our hope that all cur students will use the stimulus of change to improve, strengthen, and advance themselves to the fullest extent of their capabilities while at wlllard and in the years to come. With kindest personal regards, Arthur V. Shearer Pr 1 nc 1 pal
