To the High Ninth Grade Citizens of Willard: Soon we must address you as Willard graduates, but I hope that the lessons of democracy, of independent thinking, and of individual respon- sibility learned through your participation in our Willard democracy will always remain with you. We shall miss you as individuals and as an espe- cially fine class. Our good wishes go with you. Very sincerely yours, C. K. HAYES. THE HIGH NINE CLASS - - - , v •- The High Nines, with Ronnie Campbell as their leader, have been in the foreground of all the leading activities of the season. Their Valentine Dance was a big success, and another is on the way. The results of the election for May Queen gave the two top honors to High Nine girls. Margaret McLeod was chosen queen and Carol Saunders her maid of honor. The president of the Girls’ League, Susan Pillsbury, is a member of the class, and under her leadership practically every Willard girl has been enter- tained at one or more of the three Big Sister Parties. The League’s Fashion Show and Leap Year Dance were outstanding events of the term, and of course they were enthusiastically sponsored by the High Nines. Carl Potts, a High Nine and president of the Boys’ Association, of which every Willard boy is a member, has been ably assisted by the class in all the features of the Association’s program. Willard’s athletic managers, Annie Craig and Don Flaherty, report the High Nines as eager participants in all sports of the season. They have played hard and well in every intramural and interscholastic game for which they have been scheduled. Their superior spirit of sportsmanship and co-operation on the field and in the classroom will be hard to duplicate.
