Superintendent Of S Choo! N . EARL WALKER I have been asked to write a comment or challenge for the students in the 1960 WILLARKO. With a half-century of time behind me, I probably do not see the future in the same prospectus as you do. In the area of transportation and communication the old world has shrunk many times over. Yet, we say that in the areas of science, mathematics, and space travel the surface is yet unscratched, as to what is expected to be accomplished. At present our most wanted commodity is service from well-informed men and women. You are now getting your basic training for the opportunities ahead. I wish to call your attention to selected quotations: So far in the history of the world there have never been enough mature people in the right places. --Chisholm. A man who is contented with what he has done will never become famous for what he will do. Get in and dig, but be careful which way you throw the dirt. Knowing too much too soon is a lesser evil than knowing practically nothing too long. --Heilman. There are two ways of spreading lightg to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it, --Wharton.

Willard Principals Mr. Donn Gann, High School My sincere desire is to serve faithfully the schools of the Willard R-2 District in a way and manner that will help the boys and girls to better understand that the schools they attend exist solely for the purpose of developing their potentialities to the fullest capacity so that they may be better pre- pared to live in a democratic country. I feel that teachers guiding our boys and girls should be dedicated individuals aware of democracy's greatest gift to civilization: free public schools. waits Working with such fine young people as are found in the Willard School District is certainly a privilege. When such enthusiasm, character, and scholarship are exhibited as has been done by the student body of Willard High School, one knows that he CAN depend on American Youth. Aff Mr. Treva LaRose, Elementary and Junior High
