Foreign Exchange Students Learn On Location Some comments by students here and abroad. Beth Dent from Willard on her first impression of Sweden: “I love Sweden. Everything is country- side and little villages. The houses have flower boxes outside all the windows. Tim Allen from Willard: There is much ‘folclore’ in Brazil. Every- one asks me about Pele. the U S. soccer player. Lena Goncalves from Brazil: I really learned so much here and I'm sure I'll never forget my life over here. I really will have memories for the rest of my life. Hector Romero from Mexico: l think it’s (USA) a very good, progressive country. It’s very good that you can choose classes. One thing I like is the people, very good people in the United States. Leaves falling softly Rustling beneath the feet. Hundreds of reluctant students Are at it once again. Meeting old friends, Telling of summer fun. Soon the past will be forgotten Present happenings fill the days. High school is a delicate megaphone On a silver chain, Piles of books And lockers too small. The sweaty exitement of a Locker room. Seeing the winning touchdown Cramming for tests that will soon Mean nothing. But working hard all the same High school is where memories are made That we remember all our lives. — Robin King

Carolyn Bean from Rhodesia on U S. schools: “It’s much freer. I enjoy co-education and also not having to wear a uniform. Also, the fact that we have very little homework gives us a lot of free time after school.” Tania Gradella from Brazil: I like choosing my classes, no uni- forms. and cafeteria system. Also. I like shopping centers. MacDon- ald’s and other chain restaurants, and the drive-in bank.” Shari Lewis from Willard: The people in New Zealand are very friendly. Most of the people have horses; cars are very expensive. I ride a bike a half mile to school every day. French is taught by using tapes and taking dictation. New Zealand is really a wonderful place.” (A) Carolyn Bean pauses for a moment from painting scenery for the set of South Pacific (B) Tama Gradella works on her Physics (C) Shari Lewis and Mrs. Brian Cobbe in an amusement park in Hastings.
