SENIOR MEMORIES Now that our comparatively carefree days of high school have come to an end, more quickly that seems possible, we look back over the past four years with mixed feelings and emotions. Some mild confusion marked our freshman year, though we were proud and happy to at last be ir high school. Officers elected for this first year were- Carole Lohr, president; Connie Taylor, vice president Chuck Neumann, secretary-treasurer; and Anne Grundish, social chairman. Mr. Zulauf was our advisor Ou class activities were limited to a few dances and a bake sale. In our eyes the one-act play, Cupid Adver tises , was a major triumph. Mr. Zulauf was again our advisor for the sophomore year. David Neumann was elected our new pres dent. Helping him were: Chuck Neumann, vice-president; Susan Jump, secretary-treasurer; and Ronald Buss- social chairman. Money was raised by selling WHS booster pins, sponsoring dances, and having a bak sale. As juniors and upper-classmen, we were kept very busy by our many activities. Sponsorship of thf Homecoming Dance was the first major venture, and the junior class play, Susan Steps Out , brougf more fun and work than any previous undertaking. Chosen this year were: Our motto, Ambition Paves thf Way to Success '; our colors, powder blue and silver; and our flower, the red carnation. Upon receiving ou class rings, we all felt a thrill of pride. Stairway to the Stars' , our Jr.-Sr. theme, was the realization oft long-awaited dream. Weeks of preparation produced a never-to-be-forgotten evening. Guiding us throug! this wonderful year were: David Neumann, Chuck Neumann, Ronald Buss, and Anne Grundish. Our long suffering advisors were Mr. and Mrs. Dale Crossen Time flew by during our last year of high school. The officers were: Chuck Neumann, Ronald Danhofl Barbara Miller, and Susanne Watts. In order to raise enough money for our class trip in the spring, w worked like beavers. The projects included sponsoring dances, having bake sales, candy sales, the sale c various items, and a work day. Presented this year was our senior class play under the direction of Mr! Naomi Wiebe. Pictures, namecards, and graduation announcements were all ordered and received. One c the years highlights was our Sr.-Jr. dance. We were also the guests of the juniors at the Jr.-Sr. Banquet arv. Prom. Baccalaureate and commencement exercises came and were soon gone. Climaxing our high schoc days was our senior trip to Washington D.C. and New York City. Thus ended the first lap of our lives. - 18 -
