Senior History Willard High School Willard, Ohio June I, i955 Dear Seniors, You have now closed the portals on five of the most memorable years of your lives. As you leave I hope that the knowledge you have acquired will help you to achieve your goals. I recall many amusing and eventful incidents that you experienced during your stay here at Willard High School. Your class had many boys who participated in the various sports. Your eighth grade basketball team was undefeated. As freshmen they received the Junior High N. O. L. Championship. On the track JACK COLLINS was one of your outstanding men. HELEN JONES, the president of the Girls' Athletic Association, was an active participant in intramural sports. GEORGETTE JUDSON and AGNES WILKINSON also took part in the volleyball and basketball tournaments. When you were graduated the band lost many of its important members. The booming of JERRY AUSTIN, bass drummer, could be heard each time the band appeared. He could really make it talk. BARBARA HAMILTON started playing baritone to help the bass section. She formerly played a trombone. Many amusing incidents occurred in my classrooms. In chemistry class was it GERALD BITTIKOFER or was it the experiments? Nothing seemed to work as Mr. Zulauf said it should. Can you imagine having seven students in a class. Maybe BOB ALLEN and BOB WOLFE can remember. They were two of the seven students in advanced algebra. I wonder if FRANCES HAY and SHIRLEY STEINMETZ will ever be more nervous than they were in speech class. DICK SCHLOTTERER didn't notice as he was asleep mentally. Do you remember the day that the drivers training students received their licenses? LINDA MITCHELL may not keep hers unless she drives with lights at night. Choir iust wouIdn't have been the same without ROGER REED and BOB HUFF! They had a talent for keeping the tenor section in trouble. Will anyone forget the arguments FRED ELDRED had with Mr. Aukerman in government? I believe the subiect was farm life versus city life. ELOUISE ROHRBAUGH and SHIRLEY JAMERSON had quite a time in advanced shorthand. I remember EARL GREEN participating in a few debates about business economics. Several of you were interested in F.F.A. activities. BOB SHADE and BUD ROBINSON won several prizes for their exhibits at the Huron County Fair. CONRAD ANDROSAC and OLIVER MAHL also participated in the farm proiects. The Crimson and White staff, without the help of the seniors, would have been in real trouble. BOB MCKNIGHT, PHYLISS DURR, ANNA COCHRAN, COLLEEN MCLAUGHLIN, and LILLIAN SMITH helped with the preparation of the paper. They also worked Ioyally at the concession stands during the football and basketball games. The Student Council, led by their president, BOB HUFF, decorated the football field for the Homecoming ceremonies. SHIRLEY CLEM was elected to reign over the game and dance.
