Senior History Willard High School Willard, Ohio June I, i955 Dear Seniors, You have now closed the portals on five of the most memorable years of your lives. As you leave I hope that the knowledge you have acquired will help you to achieve your goals. I recall many amusing and eventful incidents that you experienced during your stay here at Willard High School. Your class had many boys who participated in the various sports. Your eighth grade basketball team was undefeated. As freshmen they received the Junior High N. O. L. Championship. On the track JACK COLLINS was one of your outstanding men. HELEN JONES, the president of the Girls' Athletic Association, was an active participant in intramural sports. GEORGETTE JUDSON and AGNES WILKINSON also took part in the volleyball and basketball tournaments. When you were graduated the band lost many of its important members. The booming of JERRY AUSTIN, bass drummer, could be heard each time the band appeared. He could really make it talk. BARBARA HAMILTON started playing baritone to help the bass section. She formerly played a trombone. Many amusing incidents occurred in my classrooms. In chemistry class was it GERALD BITTIKOFER or was it the experiments? Nothing seemed to work as Mr. Zulauf said it should. Can you imagine having seven students in a class. Maybe BOB ALLEN and BOB WOLFE can remember. They were two of the seven students in advanced algebra. I wonder if FRANCES HAY and SHIRLEY STEINMETZ will ever be more nervous than they were in speech class. DICK SCHLOTTERER didn't notice as he was asleep mentally. Do you remember the day that the drivers training students received their licenses? LINDA MITCHELL may not keep hers unless she drives with lights at night. Choir iust wouIdn't have been the same without ROGER REED and BOB HUFF! They had a talent for keeping the tenor section in trouble. Will anyone forget the arguments FRED ELDRED had with Mr. Aukerman in government? I believe the subiect was farm life versus city life. ELOUISE ROHRBAUGH and SHIRLEY JAMERSON had quite a time in advanced shorthand. I remember EARL GREEN participating in a few debates about business economics. Several of you were interested in F.F.A. activities. BOB SHADE and BUD ROBINSON won several prizes for their exhibits at the Huron County Fair. CONRAD ANDROSAC and OLIVER MAHL also participated in the farm proiects. The Crimson and White staff, without the help of the seniors, would have been in real trouble. BOB MCKNIGHT, PHYLISS DURR, ANNA COCHRAN, COLLEEN MCLAUGHLIN, and LILLIAN SMITH helped with the preparation of the paper. They also worked Ioyally at the concession stands during the football and basketball games. The Student Council, led by their president, BOB HUFF, decorated the football field for the Homecoming ceremonies. SHIRLEY CLEM was elected to reign over the game and dance. The Junior-Senior Banquet was the biggest social event of your high school years. The Big Top theme was used throughout. DAVID AMSTUTZ and CHARLES MARTIN designed the decorations for the gym. The comical side show paintings were admired by all. BOB STILLIONS, RONALD SMITH, JANE HARGROVE, STEWART SNOOK, MARY LU FREDERICK and DOROTHY LANGHURST were iust a few of you who helped with the other decorations. Your class had many money-making proiects. Your mothers prepared chili for you to sell before the Shelby football game. As seniors BEVERLY GEORGE, DONNA JACOBS and JOAN McCLlSH helped serve the supper. A newcomer, CAROLE TAYLOR, counted sales tax stamps to provide funds for your senior trip to New York City. Did NANCY HECKATHORN ever sell all the W.H.S. pins? Your dramatic productions were many. Love Hits Wilbur and Bobbysox were your first attempts of this type. As Our Miss Brooks ANN LEAK kept the audience in stitches. Who wore that pink Chinese costume? I believe it was KAYE ANTHONY. Didn't MYRON HARGROVE take the easy way out by sustaining his leg iniury? JANE HARGROVE had her honeymoon during the Senior Play. Did BOB MCKNIGHT get hurt when he fell onto the stage? Your class contained some famous personalities too. Mr, Trouble was DEAN LlNK's title. Just ask any teacher! THOMAS OVERLY won the name Mr. President. Aided by the other officers he led his class through successful iunior and senior years. Mr. Aukerman had plenty of help in his office among those were DOLORES LASER, OMA LEE STEPHENS who learned much about the duties of a secretary from Mrs. Lohr. If I remember correctly a few of you had special pastimes. Almost every Wednesday evening one could see MARY ANN EBERLY and RUTH ANN ROESCH at the Attica square dance. There was a girl in your class who had a special talent for singing. Her name was CORLISS RYMAN. Did you notice a girl with a camera? Yes, that was MARLENE LASH. Your stamp collector was DONNA LILLO. Many of you owned cars, but I believe the most unique one was the Fuzz- mobile. As chief proprietor FUZZ MILLER felt it his duty to educate all who saw it. Oh, those beautiful gems of wisdom! Who can forget the day HARLENE STAPF initiated her Skylark? It surely has provided transportation for many students. However BOB WILKINSON, ANGILO CAMISCIONE and about a dozen other boys had to walk for some time. What school could boast about a wrecker parked behind it every day? Thanks to ROGER WILCOX I did. Can you remember that RONALD CHEESMAN and WAYNE STANFIELD had their licenses taken away? Boys, you must learn to drive! GLENN SEIPLE, MERWYN CARMEAN and RONALD HATTON really sweat on that football field. Have you ever seen PAT SCHEID mad? If not you've missed something. lt happened in speech class. Remember, Pat? I know you will remember these experiences for a long time. Soon my halls will be empty and my classrooms will be quiet. At last I can get my long awaited rest. This summer you will be scattered to the four corners of the world, but wherever you go, you will always carry with you the memories of those fun filled days at Willard High. I wish the best to all of you! Forever yours, Willard High School P. S.: Come to visit me when you have time. COMPLIMENTS OF WILCOX'5 I.G.A. When we entered Willard High as freshmen, the usual con- fusion escorted us. We traveled the wrong stairs and made the customary mistakes. To guide us through our first year we chose Mrs. Crossen. Our Class Officers were: Larry McLaughlin, presi- dent, Tom Coe, Vice-President, Charles McLaughlin, Secretary- Treasurerer, and Jerry Neumann, Social Chairman. That year we sponsored football and basketball dances. We also sold football pennants. Johnny Takes the Cake was presented as our One- Act Play. As Sophomores we selected as our class advisor, Miss Paxton, and for our officers, Larry McLaughlin, Tom Coe, Janet Wilkinson, and Jerry Neumann. We held dances, sold felt letters and held a bake sole to raise money. Some of us participated in the All School Play. This year as Juniors our officers are: Charles McLaughlin, Sandra Smith, Anne Wiles and Margaret Schodorf. We are aided by Mrs. Crossen, our class advisor. We selected mint and silver as our class colors and a pink carnation for our class flower. We have sponsored dances and have sold programs. Our Play was entitled You're Young Only Twice . The stellar events of the year were the Class Play, receiving our class rings, and the Junior- Senior Prom. Junior Class Play When the Old Maid returns to her sorority house to live during her summer studies, things really begin to hum. They hum especially loudly because the spoiled son of a millionaire fears the end of his carefree college days. The young man and his friends plan to make a fool of the Old Maid teacher. Apparently she falls into the trap, however, she manages to save herself and shame the young people. Mrs. Trigg, the understanding and capable house mother, is portrayed by Margaret Schodort. She is aided by the maid-of-all works, Sophia lMary Lou Workmanl. The girls staying at the house are Sandra Smith, Lois Wilhelm, Nancy Koppler, Patti Miller, Nedra Reed, and Pauline Stover. The young gentlemen who are staying for summer school are Michael Hosler, John Kelly, Richard Foran, Dean Hollinger, and Henry Schodorf. All the young people conspire against Miss Agatha, Janet Wilkinson. The arrival of business tycoon Mr. Van Wyck Waterhouse, Sr., played by Larry Hamilton causes much concern. Of course, all ends happily. is 'x it ltr 'i , N 5 X, I ' if- -.Je W . V, f .4 . K:-'-U j i .i , - Qwgifi i k hibif ti-:d f L .1-4452, .1 lr fig V -rv' :, ' ?l,Q lj 5 .
