E l0R 0F 19 3 RETRACE THEIR PATH The last of May 1953 we the Graduatmg Class left WHS and embarked upon our varrous ways of life whether 1nto employment or college for further educa txon The foundatxon of preparedness for hfe after grad uatxon came partly from the grade school but mostly from our htgh school experrences and contacts When we entered hlgh school rn our erghth grade year we felt that year was the comer stone of edu catxon We found everythxng very new and so driferent Whrle we were trymg to remember our locker combm atzons all the dxfferent rooms the procedure of what starrs to go up and come down the Alma Mater cheers and many other thrngs a new student rn hxgh school trres to learn we chose Mrss Iayne Reynolds to lead us through our frrst year of new experlence To help her were Eugene Bogner presxdent Ruth Anne Neumann vrce presxdent Iean Wrles secretary Geraldme Snook treasurer and Louxs Krmble as soclal charrman Under therr leadershxp we had a very prosperous year and we started to bulld our treasury through the sale of popcorn As freshmen we looked forward wrth antlcxpatron to the mysterles whrch surround thls mstrtutton of hlgher learnmg We once more elected Mrss Iayne Reynolds as our guldmg hand wlth the able talents of Eugene Bogner Geraldme Snook Caroll Srmth and Ianrce We partrcrpated rn the sellmg of corn whxch was supported by the entrre class and we enthuslastlcally sponsored a football and a basketball dance We arrrved at our sophomore year wxth a better knowledge of what educatlon means to us now m the present and also what 1t means for our future Because of her gurdance rn the prevrous two years Mrss Iayne Reynolds was called upon for the thlrd trme To hold the offrce of presldent for a thlrd successrve trme also was Eugene Bogner w1th hrs crew Ruth Anne Neumann Caroll Smrth and Frances Gordon Thus year brought about more orgcrnrzatrons for us to enter such as La Clef dOr for the grrls and I-l1Y for many boys Many students also Jomed FFA or FHA We were very proud of the rnterest shown by the many boys who entered the varrous frelds of athletlcs Therr outstandrng abxlrty was a credrt to our class Smce the sale of popcorn had been so successful ln the past two years we decxded to undertake the prolect once agam Through the sponsoring of dances parttes and our prolect of sellmg corn we Increased our fund lmmensely At the end of the year the entlre class was treated to a party rn Shelby with a dellclous meal and a movle mcluded Frnally we became very rmportant Juniors The whrte camatron became our class flower and blue and srlver were chosen as our colors Keep Your Face Toward The Sun and The Shadows Will Fall Behlnd You was our class motto To rexgn at the head of the class was Mrs Organ wrth our representatzves Gary Rrcketts Rrchard Van Allen Ioyce Hlllls and Ioy Neumann to and her Durmg the year the sale of candy mrlk statlonery and cards proved very helpful to our treasury On November 16 we presented Men Are Lxke Street cars wxth Pnscrlla Arthur 1n the leading role Then the day amved Ianuary 10 when you heard us stand mg 1n the halls ahmg and S1Qh1XlQ wrth delrght What had happened? We had Just recelved our beautrful class rmgs We were now m heaven How mce they looked on our hands! On May 3 the mght of the Iunror Semor Prom arrrved and we spent a beautrful evenmg rn Blue Hawau wxth delrcxous food drvme mustc and dancmg under the stars On September 6 1952 we became very proud semors wrth the assurance that all our preparatron rn the past four years was not rn vam To drrect our graduatlon year we elected as class advrsor Mr Wesley Watson class presrdent Eugene Bogner vrce-presrdent hm Hmebaugh secretary treasurer Yvonne Langhurst and Betty lean Rohrs as soczal chauman The class unanxmously elected as honorary advrsor year was the tea that Mxss Reynolds had for the semor class on Tuesday December 30 The actrvmes we engaged rn were the usual chrlx supper la huge success! sellmg of statronery and cards sponsormg a football and a basketball dance a bake sale the Semor Iumor tru Apnl and the play Crime Photographer presented on Apnl 17 The goal for whrch we had been strxvmg arnved May 28 1953 the mght of Commencement when we walked down the axsle together as a group for the last tame Wrth shxnmg eyes and a glonous feelmg rn our hearts we recerved our dxplomas What a pnvrlege xt rs to study and graduate m a free country was the thought that occupxed many of our rnrnds As a reward of our efforts we enjoyed a tnp to New York Clty that wrll always be rememberd The beautiful parks the skyscrapers the amusement center of the world the trrps taken by bus and boat the thnll of everyday crowds ffllecl us wxth ecstasy It was wrth regret rn our hearts that we realized our trxp srgmfred the end and the begmmng for each of us must now seek his place or posxtron rn life For therr trreless effort patxence consrderatron and understandmg of all problems through our school years we extend our most srncere apprecxation to Superm tendent Dale W Gates Prmcrpal Peter A Wrebe the l-hgh School Faculty Class Advrsors all grade teachers and all other personnel of Wrllard Hrgh School I I I I I 1 u l 1 - .
