EDICA TIO, DEDICATED TO THE BOYS OF WILLARD WHO HAVE GIVEN THEIR LIVES IN WORLD WAR II Today, in a million homes across America, the war is a personal pain, realis- tic horror. There, behind the gold stars, the hopes of parenthood, the plans of tomorrow are shattered. But, to wethe living, tomorrow comes at the same pace. And to us, the living, the torch of their dreams and their devotion is handed. The chal- lenge of Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address becomes a vivid reality. Out from every gold star, it flings its message to one hundred and thirty- eight million Americans: - 4'It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us . . . that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion . . . that we here highly resolve that these dead shall have not died in vein . . . that this nation, under Cod, shall have a new birth of freedom - and that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth. The following boys from Willard have given their lives fighting for their country: CECIL BURR JAMES BURTON LOREN DAY CLAYTON DERMER WAYNE DERMER Raymond Drury JOHN ROBERT EYLER DALE FINN EUGENE HEISER JUNIOR HOWARD CLARENCE MILLER THOMAS PERRILL NOEMAN ROTRUCK SAM SLUSHER WALTER THOMPSON HOWARD WEINBERG VERNARD JACOBS
