THE + CHIEF + PROPHECY Oh mystic crystal with prophetic power Reveal to me in this waning hour The destinies of those I know Be it joy. sorrow, renown or woe. Lo! I see in the crystal's clear depth The class of '3O's fates well kept. The first to appear unto my vision Are Fred and Albert with firm decision To aid and assist their fellow man As only doctor and undertaker can. What queer sight now before me stands? Why Miriam and Ruth in foreign lands Surprised to meet their friends so soon. Elizabeth and Bill on their honeymoon Welch's voice to the listening throng Over the microphone announces a song By one we love and delight to hear, Madame Kovasckitz, to us so dear. In the cinema's glory and array Are our classmates' talent on display. Mildred and Rudy, petite and gay. Charm ardent admirers along their way. A second, please. while the mystic ball Reveals to me the Senate's Hall Where Gordon Wolfe and Mason Doan Are expounding on the farmer's loan. Unabashed they talk their best For in the president's chair sits Richard West. High above in the ethereal dome Paul Tompkins flies very much at home. And close behind in annexed glider Sits his brother Bob, a valiant rider. Gazing down from heights afar. They see Kenneth and Johnny. the gridir Supported by Paul and Harold, in time Crash Stanford's strong. invincible line. A beauty parlor the crystal reveals, Where Eleanore White. her art conceals. Is working on a model fond, Eleanore Wallace, the titian blond. Georgia and Catherine in nurse's attire Toil hours long with earnest desire OI1 Sf3l'S or J ,R I gg! f'BJ kzx fgibtbr K X 1 1 5' T 5 v 'L W T1 3 -5-'-3 'fi ly C J ' I I ' N reef 4' Yf. + THE + CHIEF + PROPHECY7-Continued To comfort and cheer with Words or care As their patients' sorrows they help to bear. Amelia and Elsie Dawson capable grangers Are traveling about amid rural strangers Instructing the housewives on the farm By giving lectures with grace and charm. Elsie Russel, a hostess is she. On the veranda serving tea To Marjorie and Iva and Alice Brown. Who as style designers have gained renown. Within the crystal long concealed . Are the Misses Eitle and Beamer's future revealed Instructing the youth in the method's quick To 'readin' and 'ritin' and 'rithmetic'. A Howard, a musician and leader so grand In uniform directs the U. S. Marine Band. And as it pauses, Admiral McElfish appears Announcing his speech World Disarmament Nears. The crystal grows dark! What can it mean? For the fates of all I have not seen. As. The News building breaks thro the gloom I find myself in the composing room. Editor Mathews and staff to action spring - As reporters Adams and Williams great news bring To Lillian and Carmyn the copy is sped. Who prepare the type and the presses are fed. Russel, the pressman.-with paper in hands These startling headlines eagerly scans, Scientists, Lewis and Greer, after years fulfill Their life long desire to make magic pill! And further perusing, he learns with surprise That this pill when administered makes youth very wise He acquires without effort of mind or will Complete knowledge of any subject you wish to instill. After listening intent and standing aghast Thomas rushes forth the news to broadcast. Slowly the crystal grows clear As I leave with a tear Of joy, for the fates, Of my fellow classmates. 7 I .' . 5 - T3 7 r'- - 3 . !'i4':f.. if 7 ' ipfg lgifkgf BQ X '., 1 y 1 . J T 4 1.. f l .
