Z' i ll fill, lui ll , K 7 f ff M' ' 2 Another year is behind us and we once again look back on the year to remember what was accomplished. New acquaintances as well as old were strengthened. Together we have triumphed in many fields such as sports and scholarship and yet, we still retained our sense of individuality. During junior high we have time to pause and view the direction our lives are heading while the pressure of high school is not yet a deciding factor. We have taken on greater responsibilities academically and have matured socially. We have laughed, cried, dreamed, loved, and expressed emotions we didn't think we had. We aren't the children we once were. The unique times, the special times, might be lost forever if not immortally captured in a book. A yearbook can make time stand still. Our aim this year has been to capture the Special Moments of 1982 at Will Rogers junior High, to suspend them in time for you to recall and relive again and again in the years to come. An increasing number of mopeds and motorcycles were seen on the road and on campus this year. Part of the reason for this increase in popularity was due to continuing rise in gasoline prices. It was a rainy three days, but rain did not dampen spirits in the least. As is customary at Will Rogers, the three days preceding Homecoming were set aside and designated as Hat, Sock, and Tie Day, Military Day, and Blue-White Day. Kristi Klaus, to the far top left, lends a dignified air to the Hat, Sock, and Tie Day, while Wade Robertson, pictured at bottom, poses in a more or less typical costume seen on the same day. Sam Crockett and Sandi Vaughan pause briefly to admire the creative efforts expended in decorating the gymnasium for the traditional Homecoming assembly. The coronation was held on Tuesday, October, 13, when Sherri Walker, Will Ro ers freshman, was crowned Football Homecoming queen For 1982. The eighth grade Rockets, shown immediate top left, enjoy a carefree moment of horseplay during the afternoon be- fore getting serious at the game that ni ht. Missy Reese, bottom center, causes fans to do a doubie take when she shows up at the game sporting her fifty gallon hat. All this enthusiasm and support paid off as the Rocket Teams enjoyed a double victory over the Bartlesville Cen- tral Cubs. T e Freshmen won 26 - 6, and the Eighth Grade 20 - 6. Students resort to all sorts of antics in order to break the routine of daily schoolwork. Kandi Puryear, lower cen- ter, expresses her feelings of fondness for algebraic equations. Christi Mose- ley, top center, does her Betsy Ross impression, while Tom Dixon, top, is completely awed as spit wads zoom over his head. At the end of the year everyone likes to sign annuals hoping not to be forgotten over the summer. Tiffany Vanover signs Scott Russell's annual while he looks on impatiently waiting to see what she has written. Opposites attract, especially members of the oppo- site sex. The dances are a great place to get together. Afterward, everyone heads for Pizza Inn to party. Without a partner the evening wouldn't be com- plete. Even preppies need love, and jeffrey Parrot and Me- lissa Wilson are getting in on the act. jeffrey had better watch his step, or he'll be called into the counselor's office for P.D.A. Teri Herd and Mickey Kinder try Renaissance style for a change of pace, while rehearsing for the Span- ish Club's play, Snow White . Also rehearsing for this same production, Sheri Burleigh would seem to have eyes for no one but herself, as she was heard repeating, Mirror, Mirror, who's the fairest of them all?? Meanwhile, james Panter and Bryan Elsey stick with the bachelor life. Their favorite hobby is to lean back and enjoy the SIGHTS!!! 96 LOVE IS THE IR ,!,m Wm MEMORABLE MGMENTS - ,fi .- ik' A ww OF '82 Each year brings its own set of special moments - moments that will not be forgotten for one reason or another. Some of these times are remembered because they are joyous occasions: a contest won, a new friend made, or an exciting field trip taken. Others make a lasting impression because they mark a change in our lives, perhaps leave us sad for a while: a friend moves away, freshmen gra- duate to high school, or a disappointing event occurs. Embarrassing moments too, like forgetting a part of a speech, tend to be remembered. This year has had its own special moments. jackie Wright helps us recall some of the crazy antics that went on during Spirit Week, Scotty Craig and Sara Pyne jump for joy at the thought of Spring break, and Todd Scoggins smiles in approval of a test grade. To the far left, Mrs. Lynam's fourth hour class demonstrates their appreciation by giv- ing her a going away party before she moves. Whatever the occasion might have been, what- ever impression made -the happy times, the sad times, the embarrassing times - all blend togeth- er to create those lasting memorable moments we all cherish. - .R in- 4 T le i c- 6.31 El., x 0 A5 'gy rffiffk .
