Band Queen Attendants The Golden Roper Marching Band was represented by Becky Vance as the Band Queen for the 1981-82 school year. The coronation took place on October 9, 1981, when she promised to uphold her position as Band Queen. She was much more than a beautiful queen; she was a part of the Golden Roper Band. Besides playing alto saxophone in the marching band, she played in the Concert band as well. Becky was also active in the N.H.S., French Club, and the Chorale. Becky was extremely proud to be our Band Queen. At first I was surprised, shocked, and then relieved. It didn ' t hit me that I was Queen until I was standing in front of the school. All of the Senior girls work hard and deserve to be recognized. I ' m very proud to represent the Instrumental Music Department, and I consider it a real honor to do so. I will cherish the memories always. ttes X Karen Headrick and Betty Jackson felt honored to be chosen attendants to Becky Vance, this year ' s Band Queen. First attendant, Karen Headrick, has been in Concert and Marching band for three years. This year, Karen was also the secretary of the Latin Club, which she has been a member of for two years. Second attendant, Betty Jackson, has also been a member of the Marching band for three years. This year, Betty was captain of the flag squads. She devoted many hours of her time to making new drills for the half-time shows. Betty was in the Latin Club, N.H.S., and was formerly a member of the track team. Both young ladies are very proud to represent the band in the finest tradition.
