0R12 REMEIVIBER the first time I entered Will Rogers High School. It was August 31, 1950, and I was enrolling as a lowly sophomore. The building still was empty, and quiet from the loneliness of the summer vacation. At last, I joined with a group of my friends and wandered through the beautiful halls. As we roamed we viewed with amazement the impressive front entranceways, and those to the library, office, and the auditorium foyer. On this registration day, we began to wonder if we would ever gain the feeling of warmth and friendliness expressed by the juniors and seniors. After school started, I discovered the doors to the gym, the auditor- ium shelf, the cafeteria, band room, shops, rifle range, and the fifth floor tower. Entrances to the various classrooms began to mean something more to me than just doorways, and I now associate them with happy experiences I have had. During the three years I have been here at Will-on-the-Hill , my feelings of awe and insecurity have changed to warmth, friendliness, and a love for my school. The doorways which then baffled me, have since led to rooms where I have acquired happiness and learning. Now, as I prepare to graduate, I think of that portal through which I entered to gain the inspiration, learning, and fellowship I have received, and through which I will again pass to enter one of the doorways of the future: education, business, industry, marriage, service, or the professions.
