So, on September 5, began another eventful year. We are sad when we look for some of those familiar friends who once walked before us, but we are espe- cially pleased as we see their chums greeting them when they return dressed in Uncle Sam's uniforms. As usual-we have watched the sleepy eyes in the 8:10 meetings, the period from 8:50 to 9.-05 being used as a home for homeless home work, while some students droned through the reading of the morning bulletin, the wild dashes during the five minute periods between classes when the water fountains gave forth either no water or doused the innocent drinker, the boys running a 440- yard dash after leaving the girls at their classroom doors. We were awakened by the rousing' pep assemblies, the Round-U p tap dancers practicing in the halls, the tantalizing odor of pop corn at 3:30, the exciting basketball games, the A Cappella Choir singing Christmas carols through the corridors, and the amateur Romeos and Juliets performing on our stage. We have felt lonely during the long holidays, and as graduation time draws near, we know that we will miss the Seniors, whose faces have become as fa- miliar to us as ours have become to them. So-now there will come another year with Rogerites busy around the clock from September to June and, as we watch their activities, we will keep on and on and on and on and on. The Faithful Clocks on the walls of our classrooms and halls at Will Rogers High School, who, year after year, so faithfully tick away the hours from sunrise to sunset and on into the night, through the long months from September to Juneg whose faces have become so familiar to the bored and weary students in sixth period classes and also to the eager watchers when the moments flew so fast at our exciting ball games, interesting assemblies, all-school dances, and in our favorite classes, We Dedicate this 1951 LARIAT with thanks for the many happy hours as we traveled Round the Clock. The boys came through with a win over YVebster 13-O and O-0 tie with Central. Rogers journeyed to Okmulgee for their first conference game and were edged out 7-6 as Okmulgee recovered a blocked punt in the Ropers end zone in the closing minutes of the game. The next three games were played on our field. The first was with Central and the Ropers played a scoreless first half but came back after the half with a 93-yard kick off re- turn by Billy Lawson. After that the big Blue line held Central to a 14-0 win. The next game was with Idabel and our boys passed by 53-6. Fayetteville was the next victim of the Ropers. We sent them home with an im- pressive 4-0-25 defeat. Jim Pollard and Roger Duncan played one of their best games of the year. Rogers took to the road the following week, met the strong Muskogee team, and lost 33-O. This was the only team that the Blues didn't score against during the entire season. We were back home the following week and met Sapulpa who handed us our third de- feat of the year 19-7. Eleven proved to be their lucky number in the next two games as they defeated both Sapulpa and Muskogee 11 to O. With two more victories under their belt, Central proved a stumbling block, defeating Rogers 7 to O, and again 9 to 7 later in the season. For the second consecutive year Rogers' only defeats during the regular season were suffered at the hands of the Central Braves. One loss in the regional tournament brought baseball to a close for another year. -f as . x .. -f K M ff ,A - ,K J iiiEvF f 1. flfij, ,Mk k -jk-w2ff,,,'A, ,111 ,Wgjy f ' Q J i .4 .ij ,' Aww M1 Q 1fz7W'szS1 .-25 . , ,K if ' H- as X -' ..,. , f 2 f f T P. f, ,.4 Wwiiziga ' 5,,ij,Qls+f15?Wwgiiyigwifwigf A , ' 2 K A39225 2 'E :WL ' rf! . 5 H' .V - ..,, I . -, .N-v,.w,, ,if iq W' f 1 ,.
