VK'ith them are all their relatives from Office Practice and Transcription. 'llhere come the packs of the tiling cards with card indexes. Behind them quietly march the llictaphone drills. Speedy tigures from adding machines and comptonieters with mimeograph forms in 'nolicate copies keep a steady pace as whole sets of bookkeeping and accounting problems strive to keep a perfect balance. Singing Christmas carols in Spanish. l-lands ACFOSS tl'lZ S26 NVith English leading the international display of words, we exhibit our banners proudly waving on high over the heads of our neighbors across the sea. XYith bands playing the Marseilles, Deutschland ueber alles. and other national anthems, the parade comes to a halt for everyone to salute. The marchers then swing into line joining hands and thoughts with those of other lands. Thus parades the foreign Language Department in all its glory. Latin. the parent language of all. is leading the way with French, Spanish. and German following in close formation. French verbs and Spanish pronouns step along with Latin declensions, keeping in perfect time with the music of the Romance languages. In the distance may be heard the steady tramp of Caesar's legions, thun- dering voice of Cicero, or the quieting musical refrain of Virgil's versesg while nearer may be heard their modern counterparts from France, from Spain, and from Germany. lin avant, marchons! Liberte! Ngalite! lfraternitel Las senoritas lispanoles bailen. Parade! Marsch! So onward march these students of languages trying to promote a better understand- ing for international peace and good will. 22
