'l N Fifty years ago the Wilkinsburg High School had fewer than fifty studentsg today it has almost seventeen hundred. During this period there has been a phenomenal growth in education in our country as a whole, but particularly in Wilkins- burg. This has been largely due to the broad- minded policy of school board members in carrying out the expressed will of the citizens of Wilkins- burg, who have always had confidence in their public school system and have been loyal to it. This is evidenced by the fact that Wilkinsburg High School had the first modern high school building and athletic Held in Western Pennsyl- vania. It was among the first to establish com- mercial, home economics, and industrial arts courses. ' We are justly proud of the record of the Wil- kinsburg school system, of its scholastic, cultural, and athletic attainments, but we hope its greatest success has been in aiding to develop the characters of the young people of this community. Its faculty, in the past and at present, has been faith- ful and unseliish in its service. Its thousands of graduates have left to us high ideals, as exempli- fled in our chapel and in our activities. Much as we glory in our past, the present and the future should concern us more. Let us resolve to do everything that we can for the betterment of our community and our school. -W. C. GRAHAM
