And, he's going to do some- thing about it. The short, stockily-built Wa- terloo Lutheran University ath- letic director promised a tougher approach. for the 1970-71 season Monday night fat the school's annual athletic' dimer at Berk- ley Tavern. I don't consider this past year alsuccessf' said Knight, in his closing remarks to. approxi- mately 200 students. Sure, we maybe had fun, but we compet- ed in 17 Ontario Intercollegiate Athletic Association. sports and didn't win a thing. I think you have more fun when you win. Next season will be different. The coaches are going to cra c k right down. .There'll be no fooling around. If you can't cut the mustard, YOWH b9.S9!lQ-l,....,..,.-M32 To emphasize, his ..-point, Knight 'mentioned that the foot- ball teani will work out later this month in an effort to get a jump on next season. He empha- sized the importance of athlet- ics and urged young people to' use both reason and passion upon entermg the working world after graduation. Maybe the next great wars will Q gught on the athletic field,'i id the. portly Mari- timer. It's a lot- better to beat somebody 70-0' then, to shoot 1,000 people. Q MacFarlane Messed that peo- ple must not allowthemselves to live by either reason or pas- sion alone. People who use passion alone as a guiding force usually create fires which consume them, he said. And those using only reason, usually wind up making dull and uninter- esting contributions. . kitchener-waterloo record march 17 1970 total involvement? .... 11 W I lf' 'L- , , ..- -,!!.l.l. .-Z 5--I I ---7 w imxl 31.1Ias.f1 :IMWMI I1 - 1'- . , ' x g -.1 5 11 'ull I , ,ll 'I '-' 11 i In I 'l'Ql'l. l .'..
