,bmi of' S I u D I N I Student Council President Abxtm SUHU1 CUSS Dax id Xt. Pady PRI-lSl DENTS MESSAGE The structure of a university with its academic, social and intellectual societies helps in the matur- ing of each student It provides the atmosphere in which we can question and challenge our own and others beliefs thereby helping us to formulate more concrete ideas and principles to take out into the world The rapid growth of our university has had several repercussions which have combined to lessen its potential in providing a true community of learning atmosphere on this campus, Foremost among these is the failure to centralize our clubs and organizations which are the backbone of any campus. Secondly, this campus requires more rec- reation facilities and a centre for all the members ot' the college family - students, faculty, adminis- tration, alumni and guests. What is needed is an aflerguate Student Union Building which can pro- vide the unifying force essential to our campus. It should be the student social, cultural and gov- ernmental centre for the university. It is for these reasons that I strongly urge the future student leaders and students of Waterloo to work hard and to support a campaign for a new Student Union Building Graduation repr:-sents a major accomplishment for all of us, liut the real tr,-st will come when we try to attain our own individual goals in the quest for sa-lf satisfaction. Graduates, I wish you luck in your pursuit of success, and to those who re- main, l hope that you will continue to reap the ln,-ri4't'uts of univf-rsity, well maintaining its high standards and traditions, Su rotary Lynn Wood
