In anticipation of the oncoming storm, the student body was summoned to the cafeteria near the end of the school day to share the ice cream and other foods con- sidered perishable. As the wind picked up, the restless stu- dents’ thoughts be- gan to center around family, hone, and pos- sessions. Residents evacuated during the night, feared the worst, but Cape May County was spared the full extent of Gloria’s wrath.
