S.A.D.D.-Students Against Drunk Driving, is Wildwood Catholic’s newest student project. As part of a nation- wide attempt to put a stop to driving drunk, our chapter of S.A.D.D., under the direction of Sister Deanna Helm, en- courages many Cape May County parents to become more involved and aware of their children’s activities. Especially when the friendship has been so close for many years. Monsignor Joseph Conlon served as administrator of St. Ann’s Parish Church as well as Wildwood Catholic High School and St. Ann's Grammar School. He always had a friendly word for students and faculty and shared so many important memories with them. One of his most memorable projects was the renovation of St. Ann’s Church. After 13 productive years, Monsignor is leaving us to assume the responsibility of St. Francis Cabrini Parish in Ocean City. His replacement will be Monsignor Wil- liam Quinn who comes to us from St. John of God, North Cape May. Say you’re a monkey’s uncle’ Golf Team In an age of growing awareness of phys- ical fitness and the outdoors, the popularity of the W.C.H.S. golf team is growing along with the skill of its players. Golf is a sport where individual efforts combine for a total team score. The members of the team all share two important qualities: a desire to play golf and the ability to play well. Unlike basketball, baseball, or almost any other sport, the coach doesn’t have to watch over his team. Each player plays according to his or her own style and pace. The surfing season, unlike any other, spans the entire year with a break lasting from the end of December to mid-March. The first full season has just been completed. The league in which Wildwood Catholic participates consists of Lower C.M. Regional, Ocean City, Absegami, Holy Spirit, and Mainland. As a first year team, they proudly won 2 out of 10 meets, one in a dual and one in a round robin. Surfing competition is a group effort. Not only do the teams surf, but members specialize in other areas as well; M. Haryslak and T. Tozour-Knee board riders. The senior members are G. Law- son, T. Tozour, and D. McDonald. Top: R. The outstanding performances of Pat MacFarlane, Joe McGrath, and our goalie, Chris McCurdy were recognized by all when they were named to the All C.A.L. II and All Parochial B First String teams. Pat was also named to the All South Jersey team. This was all made possible by the fine coaching of Jack . Zimmerman and the skill and Vja enthusiasm of all the team 9 members.
