Can we forget During the course of the years. The joys and the sorrows. The hopes and the fears? Can we forget As our lives pass us by, The best of our friends And the teachers that try? Will we forget The things we have earned. The great self -respect And the values we’ve learned? Will we forget Walking in through the doors And going out every day Knowing many things more? We will not forget The games we have won And the victory parties When we were done. We will not forget As we continue to grow. That from Wildwood Catholic With pride we will go. Meg O’Leary Future’s Door I knocked upon the future’s door today, I’m sure it heard me but it would not let me in; I knocked upon the past’s door today. There was no answer Only faint voices from within; I searched and searched for the present’s door. But the only thing I found Was a key upon the floor. I wondered if this was the key To the present’s door- And then it came upon me This key I found in the present Is the key that locks the past behind us And unlocks the future’s secrets before us. Patty Taylor The Surfer Morning has broken; The blazing sun rises Above the sea of golden blue. It opens its arms To creatures in the sky. The surfer awakens To pounding of the waves. His day begins on the sea There are things he must do. He attempts to forget The greatness of the swells He cannot. His duties are forgotten. He grabs for his board And walks towards the beach. Out in the water he is king of all. On top of creation; Riding the waves he is god of the sea. As he journeys onward Through a tube of liquid glass. Meg O’Leary
