As an organizer, participant in activities, and an eager student, we will remember him always. May this member of our class dwell in the house of the Lord! 77 Reflections Upon graduating I thought that I might tell my teachers just how I felt about school and all the memories that sprang from the past four years. When I found the opportunity, I accosted one of my favorite teachers and prepared to spill out all the sadness and anticipation I felt inside. Un- fortunately, I got no further than a hesitat- ing “Good morning.” I didn't know where or how to start. I decided then, to include my thoughts here in the annual as a matter of preserva- tion: Enough of the people at Wildwood Catholic have felt the way I do, and our thoughts would be a good thing to have down in writing for the simple fact that when the Wildwood Catholic people of 1974-75 have children of high school age they will have some sort of a reference point concerning their state of mind when they were young and approaching gradua- tion. In anticipation of my graduation day I had the silly notion that I would suddenly be Tilled with a profound sense of revelation about life and about the future. Instead, 1 find myself feeling about the same as be- fore — dazed and confused. The diploma carried no other message than “This paper certifies that the bearer has completed four years of successful study, enough to be called a high school graduate. Feeling a little bit down, but still happy, I reacted crazily, posing for pictures with my best high school companions. The three of us stood holding our diplomas before us in a pose reminiscent of an ad in the SATURDAY EVENING POST. Well, this unusual behavior was only tem- porary, for later in the afternoon while engaged in conversation, I suddenly came upon the truth of my education as a whole. Wildwood Catholic has taught me about people and their feelings. Wildwood Cath- olic has even.taught me about the world. But all that was secondary, for Wildwood Catholic has taught me the single most important thing in my life: I learned to learn . . and to love learning. The diplo- ma is only a token but the knowledge is mine forever. I’ve been surrounded by some wonderful friends here. This is the end, and some of the people at Wildwood Catholic will go, never to return. I’ll miss them. And that constitutes my feelings for all those who read this . . . from distinguished alumni to typesetters from years gone by. May you all discover pleasant times, at which you are surrounded by many good friends. Doreen Giglio“75” all good things must come to an end.
