Bartholomew Eustace S. T. D., Bishop of Camden, announced the awarding of a contract for the erection of a new Catholic High School to be locat- ed at Fifteenth and Central Ave- nues, North Wildwood, New Jer- sey. It was the first Catholic high school in Cape May County, and it was built by the Rt. Rev. Monsi- gnor Aloysius S. Quinlan, pastor of St. Ann's Parish. Ground was broken by Bishop Eustace on August 18, and on July 11, 1948, the school opened with 80 students. The capacity of the school was 225, but by 1957 the enrollment had reached 266. Since the original plans had included allowances for necessary expansion, arrangements were made for an addition to the origi- nal building. In May 1958, The Rt. Rev. Mon- signor Augustine Crine, pastor of St. Ann's Parish, with the permis- sion of the Bishop of Camden, The Most Rev. Justin J. McCarthy D.D. began the plans for the addi- tion. Construction of the modern, well equiped extension started in February 1959. In January, 1960, the new addition became a regu- lar part of the Wildwood Catholic Day. On February 7,1960, Rt. Rev. Monsignor Augustine T. Moxier blessed the cornerstone. Today, four hundred students participate in a rc co D C c c _c - LO CM 03 CO Lh V c c niversary 25th AJBSJ0 c c _c modular schedule program.
