Behind him lay three years’ active duty in the Navy, during which he served in such far away places as the Marshall Islands. His sterling qualities soon won him a host of friends among adults in Wildwood. The student body of Wildwood Catholic esteem him because of his sincere interest in their studies, their sports, and all that concerns their welfare. and Present The student body at Wildwood Catholic re- members with affection a humorous young priest, who sometimes taught, counselled, and directed them, sometimes shared their sports; but always gave them the shining example of a priest of God. In August, 1956, this teacher and friend, Father John Newton, enlisted in the United States Navy. Now, as Lieutenant John Newton, he ministers to the spiritual comfort of the sick at the United States Naval Hospital, San Diego, California. 70 We’ll fight for her, guard her honor, Shield her name for aye.
