LOIS REYNOLDS HERBERT STOCKING Director of lhstruction Director of Secondary Education The world is never bigger than the day after gradua tion! Growing up and acquiring an education seems a slow process during the years of school age. In later years as you look back and reflect upon your high school days you will realize how fleeting they were. Cherish and make the most of every minute of this most wonderful period of your life so will be prepared to look back upon it with memories of happiness and gratification. WENDELL W. HUXTABLE City 8. MILDRED BAKER GEORGE BERGNA Dean of Girls Dean Of Students . 21 CHARLES PASSANTINO WILLIAM DURAN Head Registrar Vice Principal My very best wishes to the students ot Wilcox High School. To the senior class of l966, the problems of this era must be solved by you. Such a task is no more demanding than that faced by your ances- tors. Yet it is a stern one. As we all know, spirit isn't something that iust happens, it takes people like Ginger and Terry to create it. They both spent a maior part of their time working together with their fellow students to keep spirit at a high point. Ginger, who has been Head yell leader for three years, has gone through pulled muscles, dislo- cated kneecaps, and broken toes to maintain her title as Wilcox's well-coordinated Cheerleader. Terry was not only a member of this year's Rally Council but he also played football and ran track. It will be a great many years before any of us forget Terry's spirit, winning personality, and famous slogan: 'lAdd A Little Color To Your Class! Oh, how quickly the time has flown by, but it was filled with so many enioyable experiences. I remember onthe clay I arrived here, the 'I7th of August, in San Francisco, I thought I would take the next plane back to Belgium. And l said to myself, Oh, what have I done? Everything is so huge here, and so different. I don't know anyone and anything, and I'm so far away from my parents, friends, and relatives! But everyone was so friendly and warm, especially my family, the Browns, that after the second day, I knew already I wouIdn't go back for anything. I learned so much each day and people were so generous, that I dan't know who to thank first. But when I go, a part of my heart shall always remain in Santa Clara and at Wilcox. One day I shall remember the exciting football games, homecoming, the Senior Picnic, and graduation. Next year you shall have another A.F.S. student and perhaps from a bigger country than Belgium. But remember, even though it may be tiny, it shall always welcome every one of you with great ioy. My thanks especially to the entire student body and all the teachers, because you made it possible for me to have such a fantastic year. f . I --v l had such a good time at the choir party at Kathy Thomas house. We ate and ate and ate. Art was one of my favorite classes at Wilcox. Many times I was late to my next class because I got so interested in what I was doing. i will always remember . . . -ra Ice cream is my favorite American food, but it has so many calories. Metrecal, anyone? 'lThis is part of my family in Belgium: my mother and my sisters, Leentie, 8, Lieveke, 77 Kristin, 14, Ann, 12. Many letters went back and forth across the Atlantic, so lwas rarely homesick. 129 The international Club is one of the most prominent clubs at Wilcox. Camera Club has done much this post year to help make this year's Promethean and War chants possible, by taking and developing snapshots that were needed here and there. Also the Camera Club has done a fine job supplying other clubs with pictures to till the display case by the main office. Hardly a day goes by when someone isn't taking pictures somewhere on campus, or someone isn't down in the dark room developing some rush pictures. Under the guiding hand of Mr. Oliveria there is hardly ever a leisure moment for these hard working club members. The Promethean wishes to extend many thanks to this club for all their hard work. 135 The Medical Careers Club and the Future Teachers Club are both service organizations which help members to plan for their voca- tions.
