feala :haw After his Eagles suffered a 0-8 record last year, a fine effort put forth by his Eagles gave them a record of 4-4 in the strong Fort Kearney Conference. The larger schools proved our downfall, but we never lacked that fighting spirit. ,,,2g::h, 4... Y. f, Football Dennis Bergstrom De lton Blank usa David Gitt Steve Sheneman ALL CONFERENCE: D. Blank CEndl, First Teamg D. Bergstrom fl-IBD, Honorable Men- tion: D. Gitt QQBD, Honorable Mentiong and Steve Sheneman fl-IBQ, Second team . D. Blank was also named on the First team, Class B All-State Eight Man team selected by Gregg McBride of the Omaha World Herald . WILCOX 20 - SUMNER 19 The first game of the season was as close as they come. Wilcox scorers were Blank, Gitt and Sheneman with Sheneman plunging for the PAT and victory. WILCOX 13 - LOOMIS 30 It was all Loomis the first half and all Wilcox the second half. Sheneman ran 20 yds. to score, while Gitt plunged from 4 yds. out to complete our scoring. WILCOX 8 - AMHERST 45 Meeting one of the two powers of the FKC, Shene- man provided some high, but short lived moments of excitement with a 33 yd. TD and runs of 45 and 48 yds. D. Bergstrom plunged for the score. WILCOX 19 - PLEASANTON 6 The Eagles had no trouble getting past the Pleasan- ton crew as Blank, Gitt and Bergstrom led the scoring parade. Again the line turned in a stellar performance. WILCOX 19 - OVERTON 14 Wilcox got back on the victory trail again with D. Bergstrom turning in a sterling performance at half- back. Sheneman qSteverinoJ went 55 yds. for a TD, a pass from Gitt to Blank, and Blank from 5 yds. out completed our scoring. The Eagle line held Overton on the one as the game ended. WILCOX 40 ' HILDRETH 2 Wilcox's first game with Hildreth was opened with a 70 yd. TD on the kick-off by Sheneman, with the rest of the game going about the same way. Again the line played an outstanding game. WILCOX 12 - AXTELL 32 A pass from Gitt to Blank covering 30 yds. and a Sheneman 55 yd. run for a TD was our scoring, as the line gave their all ln trying to halt the speedy bac ks of Axtell. WILCOX 0 - ELM CREEK 42 The Eagles suffered their only shutout of the season at the hands of the Elm Creek Buffaloes. Blank led Wilcox's bid to avoid a shutout, but was stopped on the 5 yd. line in the Eagles only scoring thrust.
