Cluss History Fourteen little kids comprised our first grade class in the fall of 1945 with Miss Helen Mowrey as our teacher The members of that class were Carl Almquist Judy Amman Dee Anne Berggren Kay Bergstrom Delton Blank Coleene Burgeson Larry Dirks Larry Garrelts Norbert Glebe Donna Knaus Roger Mattson Gloria Mowrey Donna Stratman and Elvera Westerbuhr Of these Kay Delton Coleene Larry G Norbert Gloria Donna and Elvera have gone all twelve years together In the second grade Edith Anderson joined our class Miss Mowrey was again our teacher Roger Mattson left during the year We split into two groups the next year with Miss Mowrey and Miss Ilene Leinemann as our teachers Bonnie Einspahr and Wayne Wendell Joined us this year In the fourth grade Miss Charlotte Hoffmann taught us When the school house burned tn january 1949 we held classes in the Methodist Church basement Larry Dirks moved away at the end of the term Miss Rojean Jesse was our fifth grade teacher with classes being held ln the basement of the Community Church We lost Judy Amman at the end of the year We entered the new school house in the sixth grade with sixteen members and Mrs Ward Nelson as our teacher Gerald De Boer and Barbara Koontz joined us Mrs Nelson again taught us in the seventh grade We lost our gain of the previous year when Gerald De Boer and Barbara Koontz left us as did Bonnie Einspahr In the eighth grade we were in Junior high The following officers were elected Kay Bergstrom President Carl Almquist Vice President Edith Anderson Secretary Norbert Glebe Treasurer and Betty Jesse News Reporter Our sponsor was Mr Harvey Leamons Betty jesse and joan Leamons joined us and Donna Knaus left giving us an eighth grade graduating class of fourteen Edith Anderson was Valedictorian and Elvera Westerbuhr Salutatorian of our class when Dennis Bergstrom Gerald De Boer Darlene Eden Arlen jelken Donald johnson and john Saathoff came in from country school We lost Joan Leamons Our officers were President Wayne Wendell Vice President Dee Anne Berggren Secretary Edith Anderson Treasurer Gloria Mowrey and News Reporter Kay Bergstrom Mr Jerry Larsen was our sponsor Our sophomore class dropped to seventeen when Gerald De Boer and Wayne Wendell left us Mr Rueben Anders was our sponsor and we elected the following officers Presl dent Delton Blank Vice President Gloria Mowrey Secretary Edith Anderson Treasurer Norbert Glebe and News Reporter Elvera Westerbuhr As Juniors we again had seventeen members We lost Dee Anne Berggren but gained Darlene Schleeter Following officers were elected President Delton Blank Vice Presl dent Elvera Westerbuhr Secretary Gloria Mowrey Treasurer Edith Anderson and News Reporter Betty Jesse Mr Robert Caswell was our sponsor Our class play Beans For Breakfast and our banquet Hidden Forest were very successful Now as full fledged seniors we have sixteen members since Carl Almquist moved away Mr john Hendrix was our sponsor and the following were our elected officers President Delton Blank VICE President Coleene Burgeson Secretary Gloria Mowrey Treasurer Norbert Glebe and News Reporter Kay Bergstrom Our class play Take Your Medicine was presented successfully to a large audience On May 14 and 15 we went to Hidden Paradise Resort at Long Pine for our Sneak Day and then came back for commencement exercises on May 21 1957 ' 3 I I 7 l I I 7 7 i I - 9 I ' 7 I D I U! Class Will EDITH ANDERSON wills her brains to Delton Johnson DONNA STRATMAN wills her shyness to Mary Potter KAY BERGSTROM wills her figure to Marcia Aspegren DARLENE EDEN wills her night life to Janlce Falk DARLENE SCHLEETER wills her shorthand to Mr Hendrix BETTY JESSE wills her flirty ways to Inez Sheneman JOHN SAATHOFF wills his driving ability to David Gltt ARLEN JELKEN wills his music ability to Sara Swanson DONALD JOHNSON wills his singing ability to Georgene Crandall LARRY GARRELTS wills his manly looks to Steve Brumley GLORIA MOWREY wills her telephone calls to Sharon Schepler COLEENE BURGESON wills her dancing shoes to Dolores Bartels NORBERT GLEBE wills his growling ability to Bernita Garrelts DENNIS BERGSTROM wills his Holdrege girls to Dale Sall ELVERA WESTERBUHR wills her lonesome love to Janet Lynch DELTON BLANK wills his athletic ability to Jim Hungerford Class Prophecy May 20 1977 the Senior Class of 1957 gathered for a class reunion at the home of Mr 81 Mrs DELTON BLANK who are residing on a beautiful ranch styled home south of Wilcox Hotrod They are now the manufacturers of this exclusive hotrod DARLENE SCHLEETER arrives next She now weighs 99 pounds and owns her own irrigated farm Mr 8: Mrs Harold Reed are the next to arrive Mrs Reed is the former KAY BERGSTROM who now lives in Holdrege They have one girl and 20 French poodles DONNA STRATMAN surprised us all She is now a glamour girl in Hollywood She is the successor to Jayne Mansfield Next to arrive is the former DARLENE EDEN and her husband Norm Noren who now owns all the dime stores in the country Everyone was renewing old class acquaintances when all of a sudden a loud noise was heard It was DONALD JOHNSON DENNIS BERGSTROM and ARLEN JELKEN in their new 1977 Cadillac their lO gallon hats and spurs They now own half the oil wells in Texas GLORIA MOWREY and EDITH ANDERSON arrived next They haven t found their dream man but are giving their deepest attention to nursing the men back to health LARRY GARRELTS came buzzing by in his new creation the Garrelt s Super 66 Airplane atomic powered no less Next to arrive was Floyd Lindstrom and the former ELVERA WESTERBUHR who are now starting their own band with their six kids Last but not least to arrive, were BETTY JESSE and COLEENE BURGESON They are now cover girls and have appeared on such magazines as Life, Look and etc The first to arrive were JOHNNY SAATHOFF and NORBERT GLEBE in their Super Jet
