Saluting Wilby’s Brightest! During the last several years, the year- book has taken this space to take notice of those five seniors whose intellect and effort have propelled them to the top of their class academically. This year is no different. First we recognize the Class of 1988 s valedictorian Paul Fruin. He’s always enjoyed math and science and plans to continue studying them in pursuit of an engineering degree at Cornell University. Dean Schuster earned the salutatori - an award. Dean’s term as class president seems to have whetted his appetite for elected office, as he plans to study politi- cal science at Duke University. Dean al- ways did enjoy history courses, and ex- celled in art, also. Ranked third is Gayle Mazzaferro. Gayle enjoys math and science and will study biological science at the University of Connecticut. Sonya Sykes ranks fourth after four years at Wilby. She will take her natural intelligence and love of studying to St. Augustine College in Raliegh N.C., and apply them to her interest in mathematics and science. Rounding out the list is Andrea Morisette. Andrea will enter Wesleyan University in the fall and pursue a degree in education, with the goal of teaching biology in the future. Congratulations to all five, and to all the others in the Class of ’88 who did their very best to reach their potential in the classrooms of Wilby High School. This year's valedictorian is Paul Fruin.
