At a time when all the world is thinking in terms of De- mocracy, or anti-Democracy, we have given thought to those many nations that stand as the background of the Class of 195% Twenty-five nationalities are represented among our an- cestors, immediate or remote. Something of their national traits and customs, something of their hopes and ideals, something of their virtues, and perhaps something of their faults have come to- gether here, as elsewhere, to run new threads into the rich tapes- try of American life and thought.” That these threads have been successfully and permanently woven, we believe, is evidenced by the strong friendships, the M unity, the class harmony that has been ours for four years as we I i remained together to work or play or sing.” We present that Harmony as the theme of our 1955 EMERALD, and as a tribute both to Wilby and to the Democra- cy which made it possible.
