Here is a girl with a pleasant smile and a personality to match. Peanut’s” main interests are collecting Yankee souvenirs, attending their games, playing basketball for the Y.W.C.A., and all other sports. If you see a girl walking down the halls of Wilby with a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eyes, it's none other than Dee.” Her cheerful smile has won her many friends during her four years at Wilby. Dee’s” special interests are dancing, bowling, skating, popular music, and sports especially games played by the Red Sox. Her ambition is to be a private secretary. Jo’s cheerful smile is enough to convince anyone that she is a likable and friendly girl. She enjoys dancing, bowling, all sports, and popular music. NIJOLE BAGDONAS September 24,1935 Crosby Everyone is aware of Nijole’s motto, Silence is Golden.” This quiet, soft- spoken young lady has no favorites when it comes to sports; she likes them all. Her ambition is to study medicine. She will, no doubt, achieve her goal. SHIRLEY ANN BANNO Rusty March 29,1936 Hopbrook Activities: Secretarial Club, Majorette for the Inter-High School Band. Rusty is friendly, good-natured, and attractive. When she’s not in school, you’ll find her twirling a baton, which is one of her favorite pastimes. B. came to Wilby as a freshman and since then has become quite popular among his classmates. J. B. enjoys all kinds of sports, and his favorite pastime is watching the Red Sox play. She has a special interest in dancing, swimming, and sports. Incidentally, she has her heart set on becoming a dancing instructor. ANN MARIE BRIODY Annie January 21,1935 St. Francis Xavier Activities: Vocational Orientation. ' Annie” is one of the quiet girls in Wilby, but don't let her fool you. She has gained many friends during her four years. Her hobbies include ice skating, swimming, tennis, and bowling. Leavenworth lost a valuable student when Bookie” came to Wilby. Ath- letically inclined, he is one of our best baseball players. Baseball and popular music are his special interests. We wish him luck in his ambition to be an Air Force Pilot. MARILYN JOYCE BURGHOFF May 6, 1935 Bunker Hill Activities: Spanish Club, Feature Editor of La Voz,” Secretarial Club, Class Book Committee, Bunker Hill School Secretary. Marilyn, with her smile and gentle ways, succeeds in getting the attention of her friends. She loves to play the piano, square dance, collect stamps, dog miniatures, and matchbook covers. Artie” is a busy, friendly boy who likes football, basketball, skating, gymnastics, bowling, swimming, and dogs. He plans to enter the University of Pennsylvania and study accounting. One of the best things that happened to Wilby was when Chris” de- cided to come here. She has done a great deal in the four short years that she has been in Wilby. Chris” likes skating and swimming, and is an enthusiastic rooter for the Yankees. This intelligent young lady is sure to succeed in her ambition to become a secretary. RONALD JOSEPH CIASULLO Ronnie” January 14, 1936 Woodrow Wilson Activities: Orchestra, School Band, and Distributive Education Club. Whenever there is a band playing in the auditorium for the pleasure of the students, or playing at a Wilby game to help the cheering, you are sure to find Ronnie tooting enthusiastically on his trumpet. As you can well im- agine, his special interest is in music. His other interests include hunting and fishing. We know for certain that there will always be a place in the music world for such a good player. Ronnie” has more than half-way succeeded in his ambition to become a musician. Shorty” may be small but you can be sure to find her when you need a helping hand. She is well-liked by all who know her and is always ready with an encouraging word. She is fond of reading, and enjoys keeping a scrapbook. Shorty plans to become a secretary after graduation. ANITA HOPE CODIANNE Cody” February 2, 1935 Hopeville Activities: Italian Club for two years, Class Book Committee. Cody is a tall girl with a pleasing manner and ready smile. She enjoys swimming and basketball, and loves to cut out pictures of baseball stars for her scrapbook. We all wish her success in her chosen field—secretarial work. ROBERT PHILIP COLANGELO Bob” January 1, 1936 Webster Activities: Italian Club. Bob,” although one of the quieter boys at Wilby, is well liked by all. He is an ardent Red Sox fan. We wish him success in whatever field he may enter. ROGER MICHAEL COLANGELO Curley” February 20, 1934 B. W. Tinker Activities: Italian Club for two years. Curley” has made his presence known at Wilby by his agreeable per- sonality and good humor. He has probably made you laugh at his funny car- toons. Roger wishes to go into business after graduation. MAFALDA ANN COLELLA Muffy January 14, 1936 Webster Activities: Dance Club, Secretarial Club, Distributive Education Club. A typical Wilbyite, Muffy wishes to become a secretary. Included among her many interests are dancing, popular music, and working in the C.Y.O. He would like to study law and become a lawyer. Good luck to you and may you win all your cases! ROGER D. DELAGE Rog” August 3, 1935 St. Ann’s Happy-go-lucky is the best definition of Rog. His main interest, like most boys, is sports. Mare, one of Wilby's cutest girls, has a very friendly disposition, which has made her many friends here. Her main interests are collecting photographs of movie stars, dancing, and listening to popular music. Mare’s” ambition in life is to be a secretary, and we know she will be an asset in any office. If she is as good a stenographer as she is a roller skater, she won’t have much to worry about. VIRGINIA ANN DUMSCHOT October 17, 1935 Hamden High Activities: Glee Club, Accounting Club, Secretarial Club, Secretary at Hen- dricken. Quiet and attractive is just the way to describe Virginia. She is a hard- working girl in school, but a music-lover at home. Playing the piano is her favorite pastime. She also spends much of her time knitting. Virginia's ambi- tion after graduation is to be a buyer, and we are sure she will succeed. Maloney 21 ROBERT KENNETH DYER Punchy” July 18, 1935 Leavenworth Activities: Football Team three years, Senior Room Representative, Key Club. Punchy” has been a mighty popular boy about school, perhaps due to his outstanding work with the football team for three years. His hobbies are reading sport books and watching the Yankees play. As part of the course, members make an annual visit to the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. In the picture above, Senior Wilbyites include Christine Lerz, Shirley Banno, Shirley Morin, and Ronald Ciasullo. 71 CLASS PLAY On the night of June 10th, Wilby's auditorium rocked with laughter at the antics of a family portrayed in the presentation of the class play, We Shook the Family Tree. Under the capable direction of Vice-Principal, Ambrose G. Egan, the cast interpreted their parts to perfection. Joan Wakelee played Hildegarde, the eighteen-year-old daughter; Ronald Bucari was her father, Mr. Dolson; Anne Rassmussen was her mother, Mrs. Dolson; the younger members of the Dolson family included Sally, Bob, and Jimmy—played by Dolores DiNicola, Leslie Langlois, and Robert Grew respectively. Other parts in the play were interpreted by Helen Spataro as a ten-year-old girl, Paige Mason; Marilyn Burghoff as Ellie-May, Bob's heart throb; Gloria Queiroga as Jill, Ellie-May's younger friend. James Sullivan had the role of Freddie Shermer, Hildegarde's Romeo who always wore knickers. Dora Gardiner and Arthur Charkowsky played Mr. and Mrs. Shermer, the next-door neighbors. 72 THE PROJECTIONISTS’ CLUB The Projectionists’ Club, under the guidance of Mr. Craig, has developed into one of the largest clubs in Wilby, although organized for only a few years.
