The Digger ’88 features YOU, the student body, and your treasured memories throughout the year. The theme, “Were you there when ... follows those mo- ments when you made memories. Your smiles, your tears, your excitement, and your love for each other are what made Wilbur- ton School a living, breathing entity. When some of the seniors were asked the ques- tion “What does WHS mean to you?”, here were some of their re- sponses: “It is a special piece in my life that I’m about to lose for- ever.” - Sharilyn Turner “It has been a tradi- tion for all of my family to graduate from Wilburton High.” - Dana Holl- ingback “I’ll miss high school and my friends when I’m gone.” - Richard Robinson “Getting an educa- tion.” - David Turner “WHS has given me many good friends and great memories. It will be hard to leave all of the very special times.” - Lau- ra Holland “Special people and memories.” - Shiela Bell Students come and stu- dents go at Wilburton Schools, but this was YOUR YEAR. “You were here when ...” and it is recorded in the DIGGER ’88! WHS band members Sandra Jones and Stacy Johnson carried the Wilburton Diggers flag in the Homecoming Parade. This was just one of the many ways that students showed their school spirit and pride.

... m CELEBRATED WE BIRTHDAY OF THE The 200th birthday of the con- stitution was September 16, 1987. The elementary vocal music stu- dents performed “America the Beautiful.” Bradley Taylor and Jeff Marshall helped in presenting the flags. The celebration of the anniversary of the signing of the Constitution was interrupted shortly by the recognition of Re- presentative Ron Glenn’s birth- day. Candy Massey, along with the sixth grade class, presented Mr. Glenn with a giant birthday card that read, “We the People of the Wilburton School wish you the blessings of liberty ... and a very happy birthday.” The entire stu- dent body sang “Happy Birth- day.” Highschool students also par- ticipated in the celebration. Mrs. Betty Johnston showed her ver- sion of Martha Washington and Kurtis Lund stood almost patient- ly, waiting to present the flag.
