1976 C icjcjer Yearbook LOiiburton Qublic School VOilburton, i£)klaUcmci Volume 30 zJ dvninitt ration and faculty 3 To John Sokolosky, a philanthropist, who is prohahk one of the best living examples of the character and friendliness of the Wilburton School that we dedicate with pride and gratitude the 1976 edition of the “DIGGER” Yearbook. John believed and promoted a philosophy of education as a way of life centered on human interest, values, and a high regard for your fellowman. That an individual has the right to live, think, worship in a free society with dignity and the worth of man in his capacity for self-realization. Mr. Sokolosky served his country very loy ally and patriotically for thirty -seven months. He has taught agriculture in the Wilburton School for 29 years. During this time he served the community, town, school, and many different civic organizations in many different capacities. t the present lime he holds a position with the Oklahoma State Department of Vocational-Technical Education. It is because of his congeniality and his humanism that we with high esteem dedicate this yearbook to our beloved teacher and friend, Mr. John Sokolosky. 4 ZOilburton ‘'public sSclicolt sSupe rin t cndcn t P- sSm itb and %Scbcol C=Hoard Mr. P. J. Smith, Superintendent of Wilburton Public Schools. BOARD OF EDUCATION: Dr. Royce, President;George Kennedy,Clerk;Paul Raunikar, Member; Gayle Carnahan, Member; Gwen Maggi, Vice-President. 5 The Principal of any school should realize that the customs of the institution must not stand in the way of progress. Constant evaluation and questioning must occur to facilitate the growth of the school and the individual. The Principals look toward student independence responsibility. They want a student body faculty that are vitally concerned with their own growth and that never cease to ask questions. The Principals have acquired a deep insight into the overall picture of the school building, its stu- dents, its faculty and the correlation between all three.
