The 1967 Digger Wilbur ton High School Wilburton, Oklahoma Volume 21 Focus On The Individual Student The years spent in high school are the times in which young people form their personalities and aims in life. Activities in high school include studies, sports, and many social groups which help build the personalities that will become a basic part of each individual. Often a young person becomes part of a group and loses the in- dividuality which everyone should possess. All individuals should have their own basic traits and personalities which set them apart from others, and at the same time, contribute to the school program. Many times we fail to see the individual in a group, to see the individual characteristics, or to focus on the individual. High school students are in a constant process of change, having new personalities with each changing hour and finally becoming a well-rounded individual with goals for high school and the future. The yearbook staff has focused on the individual while preparing the 1967 Digger for publication and has the purpose of making students aware of other individuals who have contributed so much to the school year. Activities and events presented here do not appear in any other educational record, making the yearbook a valuable information source. Through- out the pages of this book, the yearbook staff has shown the individuality of each person or group, bringing back thoughts of friends, organizations, and activities of each individual in his high school years. Staff members placed finishing touches on their in- dividual assignments, which included copywriting, photography and layout. Larry Sockey and Jean Nelson, Photography Editors, have done an excellent job scheduling photographs and preparing them for publication. Thelma Phelps, Business Manager, handled the advertising section and assisted Gwen Parish with stacks of secretarial work necessary for yearbook production. Foy Ledbetter, Advisor, has directed members of the staff and stressed those inevitable deadlines. The student body and faculty have been especially co-operative in giving their time to numerous tasks which have helped the staff meet each deadline. American Yearbook Company, Topeka, Kansas, has published the Digger for the fourth year and provided suggestions for its content and arrangement. The objective of the book has been to take the in- dividual from the crowd and show the many activities which have influenced his personality and those around him. By seeing ourselves as individuals in the center of activity, we can form goals and ideals for our lives. The 1967 Digger has attempted to help you see yourself as an individual now and in future years. Gary Blackburn Editor 88
