952 953 Wilbur ten High School Published h The Ifearbcck £ta{[{f In order to typify the curricular and extra-curricular activities carried on by the student body of W.H.S., we have not followed a definite illustrated theme but have used instead a picture-record of your 1952-53 school year. May you treasure the happy momories of this year in W.H.S. Dedication Today we are enjoying the good fortune of having a new, modern school plant in which to become better citizens of tomorrow. Unlike our old building— High Upon the Hill Top , which will never be forgotten by those who passed through its doors—the new W.H.S. spreads majestically over a city block. No more will we trudge wearily up a steep hill to school, no more do we climb many flights of stairs to class, nor no longer do we have to play on dangerous rock bluffs during our free time. Tea—better classrooms, a much larger gymnasium, a spacious play ground, an agriculture building, a well fitted shop, and new equipment and furnishings throughout—this is W.H.S. as we know i,t today. In MEMdvT of our old Alma Hater, and to the FUTURE of our new Alma Hater, the Yearbook Staff of 1953 wish to dedicate this the 1953 edition of THE DIGGERS . Board Of Education And Superintendent Mr. Raymond E. Cox Superintendent I am happy to have a small part in dedicating this year book to the Wilburton School. The Board of Education and the Administration are doing all we can to make the school fit the needs of the boys and girls of Latimer County. Our main objective will always be to improve the school in any way possible in order to serve the students, the parents, and the community in general. We appreciate the splendid co-operation of the faculty and fine student body. It is indeed a pleasure to be a part of such a fine organization. Mr. Leroy Bolt Dr. J.M.
