Twenty-two of the boys remained for the entire season. Although plagued by injuries, the Diggers finished third place in the District lib conference. The graduating Seniors are, Jim Smith, Jack Majors, Bob Rich, Delbert Smith, C. L. Hall, Herb Henry, and Vernon Underwood. We the team of 1951 would like to thank Miss Haigh, Mrs. Jeffrey, the Pep Club girls, and the Bard for the fine support they gave us during our 1951 season. The Digger Cagers started practice November 24 with twenty-eight boy3 fighting for a position on the team. The Diggers finished second in the Black Diamond Conference this season with eight wins and five losses. This years lettermen are C.L. Hall, Gene Powell, Dan DeLoache, Doyle Williamson, Johnny Pate, Jack Majors, Jerry Dear, Leroy Ellis, Jimmy Pirtlu, Delbert Smith and DeWitt Hood. The Graduating Seniors are Dan DeLoache, C. L. Hall, Gene Powell, Jack Majors, Jerry Dear and Delbert Smith. The Diggerettes with a very good team this season also finished second in Conference play with seven wins and four losses. The girls that lettered this season are Stella Burke, Lorine Brinkley, Bobby Jack, Wilma Allen, Jean Christian, Shirley Woods, Mildred Francis, Yvonne Powell, Nadine Draper, Ann Angel, Wanda Forwoodson, Betty Lucas, Gwendolyn Stamper, and Jerry Lou Butler. The girls won the County Tournament and a runner-up trophy in the Eastern A. M. College Invitational Tournament.
