HUTCHISON Principal Emeritus Dear friends of the Class of 1959: In the early days of our country, relatively few students continued NATHAN J. DENNY Principal their education beyond the elementary level, and fewer still, went on to college. The first secondary school, with its basically classical curricu- lum, was vastly different from the modern high school which has a student body representative of all types of young people with varied interests and potentialities, and a curriculum that is geared to prepare them for higher education or to meet their future needs in the various walks of life they may choose to follow. Your class has the distinction, which I arn sure you will always re- member with pleasure, of being the first to graduate from the new Wilbur Cross High School, an institution equipped with the finest physical facilities, an excellent teaching staff, and an educational phi- losophy based on the premise that all of the children of all of the people in our community are entitled to the educational opportunities it offers in preparation for living in our democratic society. So use the knowledge and skills you have acquired, so that you will in some measure contri- bute to the betterment of that society. May God speed you in your effort to do this. Cordially yours, NATHAN J. DENNY Principal
