Varsity Baseball Faces Promising Spring How will the Wilbur Warrior Baseball team turn out? Will we be defeated or undefeated? Will we be city champs or city chumps ? Will we be overwhelming or will we be the Houston Cavaliers of SPAL? These questions can only be answered by time. The Warriors got off to a good start by beating San Carlos, in what turned out to be a pitching duel, by a score of 3-2. Our second was met by cries of dismay and disbelief as we upset the Cubberley JV's 9-6. Our future looks promising as this years staff is stocked with such aces as Glenn Lawrence, Karl Yorston, Joe Mariscal, Chris Davis, and Gary Bones Lambson, Larry Beyer is back this year directing business from behind the plate, and first base is anchored down by Kevin Keplinger and Tim Sandborn. The defense is impregnable with such gloved gluttons as Jon George, Rich Atchison, Bob Gardiner, and Scot Lee. The outfield is covered by Kevin Holcomb, Mike Dean, and Howie Small, so base hits will be few and far between. When and if our infield falters it can be rapidly reinstituted with such versatile players as Chris Davis, Bruce Edwards, and Greg Oswald. The team is coached by one of the game's finest. This quiet, humble leader is Mr. Norman Airoldi, known to his players, managers, and personnel as Leo, But when the dust rises and the competition grows you may come and watch as the Wilbur Warriors present their own version of the Big Red Machine.
