Varsity Basketball Described as Devastating Dulring Undefeated Season :sm W' E 1 5 2 1 i Mr. Kleet. described it as the best team in Wilbur's history. Karl Yorston described it as devastating, How- ever one chooses to describe this year's 9th grade Basketball team it should all boil down to one Word, FANTAS- TIC! Our season record was 16 and 0. A season total that the Bucks or the Lakers would not dare dream about, much less our own Wilbur Warriors. The first basket of the season was scored by Glenn Lawrence and from then on it was downhill. In city play the Terman Tigers showed their true colors as the brave blue and white ran back to tiger country, after We ran away with the ball game 55-17 thus avenging our disheartening football defeat. Across town the Jordan Dolphins weren't exactly facile but second half stands by our great defense took the dolphins by the fins and turned our most reassuring victories 51-36 and 57-41. In other games the Warriors beat Mountain View 64-29 and Southwood 58-30. In what turned out to be a record setting game the Wilbur Warriors shook the Hills of San Francisco as we totally demolished the Parkway Panthers 76-36. Records were being broken as fast as We could make themand at the end of the year Mr. IQett had to start a new record book. To whom do we owe the success of our team. Was it the devoted coaching of Mr. Klett and Mr. Cooper ? Was it the extraordinary support furnished by our cheer and song leaders ? Or should the credit go to the team ? Was it the incredible shooting of Todd Walker ? Was it the determined rebounding of Glenn Lawrence, Karl Yorston, Bob Gardiner, and Kent Peterson ? Was it the razzle dazzle dribbling of Rick Atchison and Gary Lambson ? Or was it the never ending bench support of Forgotten Foursome Kevin Keplinger, Bruce Edwards, Dave Joki and Verne Freeman?
