Football '70 Excites School 2 i The tough Warrior football team barely missed both the city and league championship by placing second to Terman. The 24-6 loss to Terman didn't tell the story of the game. A close game all the way, Wilbur could not pull out a win after slipping under Terman's vicious paw during the first half. The season was lead by the Beyer to Gordon pitch-out, which was better known as the 52 option or Texas Wishbone T pictured above. A total offensive game with Menlo-Atherton saw Wilbur drive 98 yards for a score by Bob Gordon in the last five minutes. The incom- parable defensive efforts of defensive tackle Joe Marischal, defensive end Kevin Keplinger, middle linebacker Jon George and cornerback Kevin Holcomb stopped Sequoia's repetitive sweeps to the right side. At San Carlos, Wilbur recovered a San Carlos fumble on the kick-off to score on the first play from scrimmage. With the help of defensive captain Jon George, the team gave up an average of twelve points a game. E is 152
