Immersed in a warm atmosphere of ethereal unconsciousness. with actions of spontaneity replacing any need for thought, you are being whirled about aimlessly by a vortex of undefinable depth, that without rhyme or reason dictates all you do and all you are. Everything is moving. but there is no explanation: for there is no way to explain. It is impossible to alter your movment or fate in even the slightest way unless . . . Currently you are at the apex of your sweeping curve, speeding through an infinite series of points in events. Each point is a minute entity in time and may never be repeated, despite attempts at assimilation- time is fleeting. Calmly you float in suspended animation or desperately you struggle against the unchangeable. Soon you will begin your descent, in the end spiralling down to a hole in the ground. Eternal Darkness will be your friend, though it offers no comfort. And if I show you my dark side. would you still hold me in the same light? The team opened the season with a gripping come- from behind victory over Exeter. Co- captains .lim Koske and John O'Con- nor were standouts all season. Koske had eight touchdown passes and O'Connor ran for over 500 yards and scoring six touchdowns. Quarter- back Sean Nelen threw for I I touch- downs and over 600 yards. Munch- kin Rubin was an admirable offen- sive guard and made 6 key intercep-- tions. A strong congratulations to all the backup guys who supported the team and kept it functioning all sea- son. A special thanks goes to Jack Shea, our manager. With his assis- tance. Coaches Cardone, Colgate, Parrish, and Rizzo would have been lost. After an opening 4-0 win over Cushing, the kick- ers suffered four consecutive one goal defeats, among them a 3-2 setback to eventual champion Suffield. Team highlights included a late-game win over Northfield and a 2-2 tie with highly ranked Deerfield. Individual honors went to Ist year goalkeeper, I2th player award winner, James Brunog leading scor- er and all-league selection, Dave DT Taylor: and team MVP, all league and prep-all state selection, David Luczek. Similarly, the Girl's Soccer team's win-loss record does not do the team justice. The l985 season was a success in that the team improved and became a more thoughtful. cohesive, and aggressive unit as the season progressed, de- spite a few potentially demoralizing losses. Sandi Fielding, the team's Most Valuable Player, set a fine ex- ample of how to go on through hard work, sportsmanship, and her im- pressive skills were invaluable to the team. Captains Carla Pettee and Monica Christo were fine teachers, example setters. and leaders of the team. Un- der the helpful direction of coaches Sie- kierski and Redman, the team was lifted to a relatively good season of nine wins and six losses. Much of the success of the team resulted from the perceptive leadership and unparalleled skill of captains Mark Firstman and Brian Thorn. But the under- lying strength of the team was to be found in the depth of the runners, wherein the team as a whole consistently performed well to occasionally bring the sweet taste of victory home for the Indians. The de- parting seniors who really contributed to the team were: Mr. Diaz, who managed to pull himself out of dispairing lassitudinal running to help the team, Steve Dwyer and Rob Jones, whose spirits pulled the team along. and Jeff Pettee, Gerry Begley, and Michael Pare. ? in x ,ffl M Y X 'a bfjr t 1 '- ' 1 'N ,4 if 148 ,T ' 'Q wk 5' -f +3 Sm IE J Q XXI. -fr-sf 4 4- 4 ',,v, Q ff, wk ,,, M, A , W, , N7 , - I 1 1 W ,, QW -7 X nr fu A! Hockey Team finished with a strong record of 8 wins and 4 losses, The success of the season was due to the extra effort that the players gave of themselves during practice time. Their positive attitudes and constant hustle paid off during the games. The team played hockey the way it's supposed to be played: with brains, cour- age, and heart. As you can plainly see, there are many trends prevailent these days. Among the new fashion trends is a strong comeback of an old favorite, the paisley print. Also, a line of clothing similar to that of the new hit T.V. series, MIAMI VICE has taken to the younger generation American. As far as worldwide events go, events that help others took to us more than anything else. Concerts such as LIVE AlD help support the famine relief in Ethiopia. Also the Sun City album! made a political statement. that being to end apartheid in South Africa. Social trend locally included the prevalent use of skateboards on campus. But the most significant trend by far would have to be that of the male population who use dip. Whether you like it or not is your own preference, but it is estimated that M of the males in this school use chew. Dippity Doo, Mousse, Dep, are all products used to help the unmanagable hair become managable and if you just look around, there are a lot of people with unmanagable hair.
