Zockoll Thomas Baker SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Our history is merely u dream record. Some of these dreams came to pass because we thought they were imaginative or useful or beautiful. Some of them drifted into obscurity because we didn ' t like them, or didn ' t know, or didn ' t care. We as a class could only dream of a first in a Homecoming Float. Glenn Miles let his dreams take him to the Tournament of Roses Parade in California. Our football team turned a dream into reality in their victory over MB. the Jr-Sr Banquet came to pass again as we reinstituted it, in our junior year. Our basketball boys had a dream that led them to State. Harris Strozier let his dreams take him to 10(10 points and 1000 rebounds, and a place on the All-State Basketball Team. Nan Mabe ' s dream of victory at the Girls ' State Track Meet turned into an event when she not only placed third in the 880 run but also was the only girl in our county to place in any event. In addition she broke the county record. Ietje de Rooy allowed her dream to carry her far away from her home. Her contri¬ bution to our history is immeasurable and we hope we have given her the opportunity to make her dream come true. Truly we are a class of dreamers. We stand ready to change the bud and rebuild the good. But we cannot be ca ught up in the age-old practice of dreaming and then simply standing there with our dreams in our pockets. We must become doers. Our motto says “some men see . . . we dream but we must change our motto to “some men dream ... we act...”. And we must be willing to make this change, for our his¬ tory lies, for the most part, in the future. Indeed, we have left our mark at WiHi both as a class and as individuals. But the classes of 74 and 75 and ’76 will also leave their marks. To set ours elves apart from the crowd, we must make our mark in the future; we must set our goals now. And whether good or bad, success or defeat, we must strive to make them a part of our history; we must strive as individuals. Fifty years from now, will we be able to look back and point out our accomplishments, those things that made us both different and outstanding? Are we going to follow the easy road? Or, in fact, are we going to make our own path to glory, our own thoroughfare through history? We stand on the “threshold of a dream . The pages of our history remain blank; the white leaves present a challenge. They dare us, and surely we will accept their challenge. We will set our goals. And while some men will only see and ask why, we will dream and then act. Send a message to history from the class of 1973, and tell it we accept its challenge. With a heart full of the past and a hand full of the future, we will make our history a success. Also de¬ serving of recognition are several of the faculty members for their assistance and toler- unce throughout the school year. Many thanks go to Mr. Ray Mitchell for his help in pub¬ lishing the yearbook. Last, but certainly not least, we wish to give credit for the produc¬ tion of this successful yearbook to our advisor Mrs. Barbara Wilsey; without whom we as a staff couldn ' t have done it. We feel that this yearbook is one of the best to ever emerge from this school am 1 hope that it will serve as incentive in future years. The aforementioned statements may sound prejudiced and in truth maybe they are; how¬ ever. it ' e believe them. Although it is perhaps not appropriate at this point, we would like to recognize the fact that 1973 marked the 100th year of existence of Wicomico Senior High School.
