President Lindquist offers time ond services to students, foculty Selected by the Board of Regents to suc- ceed Dr. l-larry F. Corbin, who resigned in May of l963, Dr. Emory Lindquist is the fifth president of the University. A Phi Beta Kappa, former Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University in England. and former president of Bethany College at Lindsborg, Dr. Lindquist was.University Professor at W.U. Dr. Lindquist received his A.B. degree from Bethany College. I-le was awarded a BA. degree with honors from Oxford in I933 and received an M.A. degree there in l937. ln I94l, he received his PhD. degree from the University of Colorado. In a special message to the students, Dr. Lindquist expresses his own enthusiasm for the I963-64 school year: The calendar of a university year is filled with a variety of events and activities. The pattern is rich in individual and group interests. The days accumulate into weeks and months as another milestone is added to the tradition of the years. This volume of Parnassus records by picture and word the march of events during the year. While capturing the immediate, it records a story that will be cherished across the years. Moreover, this last volume of the Parnassus in the history of the University of Wichita has special interest as we stand on the threshold of entering the era of Wichita State University. My colleagues on the faculty and staff ioin me in expressing our pleasure in being an in- timate part of the account transmitted to succeeding generations through these pages.
