Through the study of literature, the student comes in contact with the thoughts of great authors, gains a knowledge of the types of literature, and evaluates ideas that influence life today. In addition, a well rounded grammar course presents the mechanics of written com- munication and provides practice through themes, book reports and research papers. As a service to the school, The Department of English sponsors The Coyote News and Teen Times and edits copy for The Coyote. The accomplishments of this department continually add to the praise received by Wichita Falls Senior High. Knowledge of reasoning and calculation prepares the student for life in today's world. This department pro- vides every student in WFSH with training in algebra, geometry or arithmetic. Solid geometry, trigonometry, slide rule, analytic geometry and calculus are offered to students desiring further study. Extended this year through two semesters, the advanced mathematics course presents a comprehensive study of analytic geometry and calculus as preparation for possible advanced college placement.
