scholastic standing T l During this school year approximately eighteen hundred students of WFSH have learned the mechanics of the vari- ous subjects offered for theireducation. The use of fundamental skills which are presented by the Department of English provides the tools with which students prepare for college and business. Four years of English are required for graduation. ln addition to this important responsibility, this department sponsors The Coyote News and The Coyote, the latter in collaboration with the Art Department. The Department of Social Studies helps the student to acquire a better understanding of the social, economic and political aspects of the world and to develop a more intelli- gent approach to the future. This year a new course, advanced arithmetic, has been added by the Department of Mathematics. The higher mathematical courses are important to students entering the fields of technology. Two years of mathematics are required for a diploma from WFSH. The foreign languages, which comprise the Department of Language, are Spanish and Latin. The Spanish courses provide the student not only with a knowledge of the lan- guage and customs of the Latin-American peoples but also with a better understanding of their cultures.
