As Time Goes By Time is an important element in the life of every WFSH student. For most of us time goes by much too rapidly, giving little time to enjoy all the activities in which we desire to participate. Both days and nights play a vital part in the typical student's life in our high school. Moreover, as we progress, the time becomes even more valuable, until as a frenzied senior the once eager sophomore reaches the peak of his high school career. With the knowledge gained in WFSH, young men and women are more suited for making good use of their time after completion of their study in these cherished halls. As the years progress and courses in college are begun and finished, many who attended this school will become valuable to their generation as doctors, housewives, scientists, carpenters, teachers, ministers and others working in almost every conceivable field. Even after a great expanse of time has gone by, WF SH students will be remembered by their descendants as success- ful in a day with extremely difficult problems. Thus, because of the fundamental and efficient training that we receive while in this high school, our chances for success are strengthened. The 1954 COYOTE staff has attempted to portray the use of time in WFSH, whether for serious studies in the day or gay activities at night. Our teachers have received much consideration, for they are actually the focal point of our school. Since extra-curricular activities are always appealing, many pages have been devoted to them. Likewise, good reasons could be given for each section-even each picture-of the 1954 COYOTE. Most important of all is the individual student, and each has been given his place in the publication. We trust that the efforts of this staff will serve as a valuable reminder for you twenty, thirty or even forty years in the future. A span of exactly forty years has elapsed since the first COYOTE rolled from the press. Before that 1914 edition Wichita Falls Senior High School published THE SUNFLOWER in 1913, the one existent copy now being almost forgotten and showing the ravages of time. We desire a brighter future for this effort. If this annual will be valued in the future as a useful remembrance of the good times and associates of 1953-1954, our theme, As Time Goes By, will have been prophetic indeed.

X, .. 1 ,,, , VI,, I i V YJ, Dedication The school year of 1925-26 was a year of many valuable gifts to WF SH, but the finest and most useful gift that year was a library. The donors of this wonderful addition to the facilities of Senior High School in Wichita Falls were Mr. and Mrs. C. VV. Snider, for whom the library was gratefully named. The 1926 COYOTE summed up the dedication of the Snider Library in these words: One of the most im- pressive ceremonies ever witnessed in the assembly hall of the Junior College was observed on the morning of December seventeenth, nineteen hundred twenty-five, when representatives from the city of Wichita Falls, the school board, and the student body of the high school and college gathered to pay tribute to Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Snider, the donors of the Snider Libraryf' Through the years since Mr. Snider's death, Mrs. Snider has recognized the importance of the culture and knowledge that students gain from her annual gift of books and magazines. She seems to believe fervently that the foundation of every state is the education of its youth. Being the unseen friend of all WFSH students, she benefits thousands whom she does not know personally by her generous donations. Without the continued gifts of books by Mrs. Snider, the library would not be up-to-date as it is now. Al- though many WF SH students do not know this wonderful lady in a personal way, they do appreciate and cherish her in a very special manner. Benjamin Franklin said, When befriended, remember it. Students of this high school will always remember Mrs. Snider. Thus, because of her every gift, because of the spirit of kind- ness prompting these donations, and because of her interest in the welfare of young people, we sincerely dedicate this 1954 COYOTE to Mrs. C. W. Snider.
