hae Zoom In the course of the three years that students spend within the walls of WFSH many doors are opened and closed. The first door all of us came through was the stately, pillared entrance. Then we were just eager unknowing sophomores, little imagining what there was in store for us beyond the beckoning corridors. Since that first time, many doors have been left behind us. Those which once were strange and foreboding are now friendly and inviting and have opened new lives for us. They have shown us the way to knowledge and better understand- ings. Behind these wooden panels we have found new friends, have experienced some triumphs and have tasted the bitterness of failure and disappointment. Here we have met wonderful teachers whose skillful hands have had so much to do in molding the course of our lives. Through these doors have come daily the future scientists, doctors, lawyers, housewives, secretaries, teachers, ministers-some of all interests, hopes and aspirations, each one receiving daily his or her portion of necessary basic training. lt will be a long time before the familiar doors of our school are pushed into the remote recesses of our memories. Always whenever we are reminded of WFSH, we will remember the friendly doors leading into the building, the office, the cafeteria, the band room and the various classes where we gathered for three of the best and most unforgettable years of our lives. Through the pages of this yearbook, the 1953 Coyote Staff has tried to picture vividly the part the familiar doors of WFSH play in our lives. lf many years after graduation you can thumb through the pages of this annual and recollect easier the familiar places in WFSH, then the purpose of our theme will have been accomplished ....

I O lt would be a dull life, indeed, here at Senior High School, if reading, writing and arithmetic were the only available courses. Today, many years since the doors were first opened in l924, new and varied types of studies are selected by the students. Even with these modern subjects, that tend to add color and value to our curriculum, school-life at WFHS would seem desolate if all clubs, councils, societies and other extracurricular activities were removed. Most students fail to realize what would be missed if suddenly these organiza- tions were gone, therefore those persons who make these activities possible are often left with little or no gratitude for their efforts. Because these faculty members have been neglected and seemingly overlooked for their direction of these activities and because the Staff feels that these teachers should be encouraged to continue devot- ing time so that all students may enjoy a fuller, richer high school life, we sincerely and gratefully dedicate this l953 Coyote to all sponsors of clubs, councils, societies, leagues, and publications, and particularly to our principal, Mr. O. T. Freeman, who has always worked as an adviser with each of the individual sponsors. l 5
