SPEECH Speech Students Gain Valuable Experience Speech students realized, this year, that I ratings are not the only values to be gained through public speaking. Satisfac1ion of, at least, having tried is also valuable. In addition to the regular League, District, and State contests, speech students entered 'mo invitational competitions. At the Garden City Invita1ional, six entries reached the finals with Karen Fetsch placing second in Prose Interpreta- 1ion and Kent Hamilton placing fifth in Extem- pore in overall competition. Competing in the Ness City Invitational for the first time, speech contestants tied with Hoxie for the first place trophy with seven I's and eight II's.
